Ever wonder...

How the hell did CAC put a sticker on that coin? More and more I am beginning to doubt CAC... 1919-D
This particular coin is anything but attractive...

Edited to add: it got a sticker because it's solid for the grade, which to me it is
A key date that is horribly struck (par for the course) and then has black spots all over it... where does it seem like I am kidding?
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Coin looks fine to me in the photo. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

<< <i>...from what I can see, the one you linked looks solid for the grade. So I don't wonder about it. A coin need not be attractive in order to qualify as solid for the grade. >>
While the coin may technically merit the grade, it appears dipped and spotted which in my mind should preclude stickering. Now, I don't know if the coin looked like that when CAC saw it or if it turned afterwards. I also don't know if the coin actually looks like that in hand, as it may be a bad pic.

Why? I don't see anything on the CAC website that says that. This is your opinion, which you have a right to, but it is not an industry opinion.

But CAC doesn't sticker coins for eye appeal? right?
I actually thought CAC stickered for eye appeal and the + was just for technical merit... Maybe I got it wrong-
CAC stickered coins can be judiciously dipped. PCGS plus coins can be judiciously dipped as well it seems.............MJ

You are correct, it is simply my opinion. I guess I thought that coins which received the CAC seal of approval are supposed to be "unmessed with". Again, haven't checked their website, and I may simply misunderstand.

Only its mother could love that homely mutt.CAC does
make mistakes and I believe that is one of them.
However, what the heck do I know, I.m just a fuzzy bear.

I guess TPG's would have little to no market to slab...........
stick with toners................
<< <i>It's about the grade, not how pretty or PQ it is. >>
IMO PQness refers more to technical excellence than it does to EA; therefore one would expect a CAC'd coin to be superior in that respect. I recently opined here that EA seems to take a back seat when deciding to sticker a coin and was taken to task on that point and that EA really does count. JA sometimes posts here so maybe he would comment.
