    Thanks! The coin has three main problems. There is a pin-head sized divot in front of the bust that looks like it's been there since the year it was minted. The second is a scratch from the back of the chin through the neck. The third problem isn't really a problem at all, but drawing a line from one through the other and out to the rim, there is a small old scratch there too. What I have gained by accepting these "defects" is a smooth planchet exhibiting mint bloom on both sides, and actual brick red luster in protected areas. The coin also has quite strong eye appeal and pitch perfect color. Under a light, the fields are quite glossy. Also, in the protected areas within the lettering and wreath details exists this wonderful old collection of crud. For a coin that probably saw a couple of decades of light commerce, it just makes you wonder about the people that handled it, carried it in their change purse, got it oily, dirty, until someday somebody finally picked it out of their change and decided to keep it as a nice momento of the fledgling mint's first year effort.

    Very very nice! PCGS might grade it as they are sometimes easy on early american coins.
    All coins kept in bank vaults.

    Sorry, forgot to add, it's PCGS VF-35. Honestly looks EF to me, so I can assume that those "interesting features" caused it to net grade. And yes, I'm way proud of this baby!

    thats the way I look at it too. Kind of reminds me of when people grade off of 16x mag and what not.
