Submitting NGC coins to PCGS...

llafoellafoe Posts: 7,220 ✭✭
Will PCGS accept coins from NGC for grading without cracking them out of the NGC holders? I have several low top pop NGC coins that have even lower top pops at PCGS and want to get them into PCGS holders (at least a percentage of them into PCGS holders).

I purchased these coins at NGC top pop pricing, so if I get 50% in PCGS holders, I'll break even. Why do so many sellers market their NGC top pop coins at PCGS pricing? If they want PCGS pricing, they should get their coins in PCGS holders!

All you have to do is send them in under the Crossover service.

Yes you can submit under the crossover service, but imo it will be a stretch for you to get 50% to cross.

Sure, but not if they are MS/PR 70 coins (ie...moderns).
They need to be able to see everything about the coin (ie...raw/no holder) and won't, by nature, just cross those. They have stated such.

Also, if they believe there is something about the coin that worries them, and they can't be certain without seeing it raw, they won't crack/cross it. You get the coin back with no crossover.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

A seller can market their coins at ANY PRICE THEY WANT!!! Whether they sell or not, is another issue. Cheers, RickO

I think you will find considerably less than 50% cross (for top pops). 10% is a better guess. But all guesses are silly. Try it and let us know.

Because I need a fix and hoping an NGC slab will cross to an PCGS slab gives me hope (and something to do). image

You can try but it's highly unlikely 50% will cross in the NGC holders, there are way too many examples of high grade NGC CAC'd coins that don't cross in the holder. Crack them out and there is a very good chance of coming back at the same grade.

For NGC crossovers to PCGS, I suggest you allow the cross at the next lower grade. If you are not prepared to accept this lower grade, think twice about paying the money for a crossover "attempt".

Be aware too, that if they find an issue with the coin AFTER they crack it out, you will get it back in a body bag and not in either holder.
