Need help to identify this indian cent

raycycaraycyca Posts: 1,709 ✭✭✭
The reverse is missing the "ONE CENT" logo. There is NO sign of alteration. Can anyone help me identify what this coin is? I'd love to know how it's missing it's logo. Thanks a lot in advance! Ray

Very cool!! Considering the year, another possibility is "One Cent" could have been removed in order to make this into a Dog Tag. Coins were used for this purpose during the Civil War.

Very interesting.... although worn, appears to be genuine. Cheers, RickO

It appears to me to be worked on, by looking closely by the laurel leaves
That my feel let the experts chime in.
I have a large cent with no stars with the same appearance.

I forget what it is called, but watch makers have an instrument that can plane a surface starting from a central point and expanding outward in a circular pattern. This is how this was made, notice how the denticles are still there. It was not just planed flat

Still very cool, even if it is a post mint alteration.

The One Cent has been removed by tooling.

It's an altered reverse Indian Cent.

must be me, but I thought the pics made it kinda obvious that it was planed off and worn a bit in someone's pocket, especially where the smooth surface starts to get near the wreath. Still cool imo.
