First I would like to say that it was a good show for me and I enjoyed the weekend very much.
I got to meet several of the members here in person such as Charmy the Penney Lady and Fcloud (Tony). Tony and I sat around a table in the back and had a little show and tell on our resent Mercury variety dimes and how we are going to try and complete that set. He has several I need and I have several he needs. I really enjoyed meeting Tony.
Next, on Friday I got to have a really good talk with Don Willis about expanding the variety sets and use other books besides the Cherrypicker's Guide. He didn't promise anything, but seemed interested and said he would look into it and consider it. I sure hope that works out.
Next the coins. I ran out of money before I snatched up all the dimes I that was there that I needed. But I did get the following. And several of these are very tuff dimes.
First my biggest find was the 1824/2 JR2! That's right the JR2!! It is raw and I would grade it VG08 to VG10. It's on hold by a dealer that is also holding a 1872 DDR rotated 180 degrees. This coin is a VF30-35 coin. This coin is also very scarce and is picture in the CPG and Brian Greers book on Seated Dimes. AS soon as I get them in hand and have the funds I will send them off to PCGS.
I also found a 1839-O/O this is also picture in the CPG and Brians book. This is a very nice XF45 with beautiful toning.
And last but not least I found a 1829 JR4. This is the variety, small 10C over large 10C. This is a raw XF40 coin and will be sent in later. So all and all I have filled 4 very tuff holes in my sets.
I also sent the following in to PCGS while there to be graded and variety labeled.
1940-S/S
1936 DDO
1945-D/HorizD
1929-S DDO
And I sent the following in to be variety labeled (already in PCGS holders)
1944-D/D
1889 DDR
1876-CC DDO
1820 JR1 StatesofAmerica
1820 JR2 Office Boy
1899-O/O

I'm just looking for an 1824 as the last date I need in my Dime set, and you snagged a JR-2 in an awesome grade.

Now, it seems you already have another 1824 Dime, any chance you'd let one go
This coin meets the decription on the CONECA site, and I sent images off to someone in the know and they agreed it is the right coin.
Oh, I almost forgot, I found a third 1937-S DDO, too.

I have two 1824/2 dimes, but not extra. One is a JR1 and the other is a JR2. I am trying to do the Complete Early dimes by JR number.

I know little or nothing about varieties of Bust Dimes.
Winston is the varieties guy and if he says "You Suck"
...who am I to disagree...
I'd really like to see the 1889 DDR - as I have
a few coins with that date.
