For the computer guys--what is this warning that I got about tonedcoins.org and is it affecting the
I was going through the PCGS message board seconds ago, and I was reading one of the threads. I am using Google Chrome. Suddenly a warning screen came up and said something about malware being used by tonedcoins.org and it was somehow linked to the message boards. I could not copy the warning, but I was able to copy the "diagnostic page" below.
For the computer guys, what does this mean? Is it an error and should I not be worried?

This is not the first time this has happened. I believe a DLRC advertisement was similarly affected in Feb 29, 2009. It happens. Protect yourself. Don't surf to webpages that show this warning.
Yes, the website tries to install malware on your PC, so you should stay away from it.

<< <i>The administrator of the TCCS site recently died. I believe the problems with the site started to appear while he was ill and they were not attended to in a timely manner. It has been mentioned many times on these and the NGC boards. >>
This is true. I ran into Ron Sirna last week and he said he would try and get control back over the site. I didn't get the impression that it was going to be anytime real soon. I would stay off the site until the site is deemed safe. MJ
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

<< <i>Wow, I am very pissed off, I just visited that site a little over a week ago and that must expalin why my computer is on the fritz now. I dodn't understand how anyone can say that I have been warned about going to that site, I am on thses boards more than frequently and never read of any warnings. Tom why don't you add the warning to your Sig line, I speak to you regularly about toned coins and it never came up in conversation either, not that it necessarily should but how does one say they been warned when I never see any warnings. Not cool!
You may be annoyed, but don't be annoyed at me.

Tom, you have IVY League in your sif line, maybe I am misunderstanding this and I will then apologize, are you saying it is safe to click on your sig line? >>
Put the crack pipe down and read the boards slowly. Yes, I have Ivy League Coin in my sigline because it is my site and is independent of any other site on the web. This thread is about the Toned Coin Collectors Society site, which has nothing to do with my site. Therefore, I must ask you why you think my site is not safe?
As for the idea that you might not have had any board posted warning about the TCCS site, well, you must have missed quite a few instances of folks writing about this issue. Here are a few threads regarding the issue-

Also, the whole thing about Macs being safer was true many years ago. Don't fool yourself today. Many exploits Work Just Fine on a Mac!
<< <i>I'm not seeing a problem with that 'ivy' website.

I read on PCWorld's website recently that Windows are actually much more secure than Macs. The problem is most hackers want the biggest bang for their buck so they go after the huge market share that Windows has in computers rather than the much smaller on of the less-secure Macs.

<< <i>Buy a Mac and have no worries, no viruses, to speak of. Never had a problem. >>
You better hope nobody listens to you, then. If everybody were to take your advice, that'd change (the "never had a problem" part) real quick.
I got this same exact 'warning' using Google Chrome when I advanced from the first to the second page of your post on Cliff Mishler's eating habits. I just went back to that same post to see if this was repeatable and it was. No problem here as I have virus protection software and x'd out as soon as I saw the message.
<< <i>Strangely enough, I have never been motivated to visit that site.....
Rick, I don't understand why - what better place is there for you to try to convert those who have it backwards?
...just asking. would this problem be less of a problem if scans were performed more often? sort of a 'nip it in the bud'
approach.
<< <i>BTW so who then is TCC ie who runs it or who is part of it? >>
I guess you haven't read the links that I provided for you?

No Way Out: Stimulus and Money Printing Are the Only Path Left
One: Make sure you have downloaded and installed ALL the latest patches for your OS. Sometimes you have to run Microsoft Update several times as often one patch might require yet another.
Two: Get a good Firewall/Virus protection package. I have used McAfee since it was shareware. Sorry about those XP users though.
Three: Get your computer protected against malware. I use McAfee, Spybot-SD (free) and Windows Defender (also free)
Four: Get a good registry cleaner. I've used many but I like CCleaner.
Five: Get a good spam filter. I use the one (Tumbleweed) from my corporate connection, but also use McAfee and the "Send to Blocked Senders List" in my mail application which for me is Outlook.
Six: Make sure you keep all of these security programs upgraded to the latest version. All can be set to auto upgrade.
Lastly, if you use a REAL computer and not a Mac, I recommend you move to Windows 7. A very marked improvement in every way. Even my wife almost gave up her Mac, but the kids have too many games for it.
I'll make a rare appearance to say I'm sorry to hear about this. I've been Mac since 94 without even one problem, other than two hardware issues Apple Care completely covered. My PC family and friends, can't even count the number of times they've been bogged down, crashed, destroyed. Not all of this is explained by that market share issue. Just saying ...
Seven: Stay away from internationally hosted porn sites.

I would strongly advise everyone to stay away until I or another founding member or Ron Sirna start a new thread alerting folks that the site is back up and running.
Thanks
<< <i>I'm pretty sure I got a virus or something from that site that locked up my computer. Stay away! >>
I got the same thing. Had to send CPU to the shop to get it fixed. Cost me $75 bucks!
