I heard an advertisement for a new coin appraisal service on the radio this morning...

As I write these words, gentle readers, I am at the office toiling away. It seems that The Man is not satisfied with beating your very own Longacre five days a week, so he summoned me to the office on a Saturday for an extra special weekend beating. On the drive in, my mood was lightened when I heard an advertisement on the radio for a new coin appraisal service in the general area where I live.

Attached is a link below. The appraisal service seems a little different from a traditional appraisal service, and the advertisement made a point that the appraiser does not actually buy the coins, and therefore he is not biased in his appraisal. Also, it seems there is an option for an over-the-phone appraisal using a combination of asking which coins you have in your collection and then the collector providing scans, as necessary.

What do you think of this service? I have no connection to the firm, other than the fact that it is based near to where my estate is.

Formerly, they were dealers in bridges - perhaps you encountered them in your neighborhood? image Cheers, RickO

Maybe if you spent less time posting on the forums during the week, he'd give you the weekend off.image

Something leads me to believe their accuracy may be a little offe.

1.Don't know who these people are.

2.No track record to see if they are legit.

    3. Usually the less effort on your part, the
bigger the chance of a scam.

I like how they advertise, in bold, that they are new. And at the top, they are a "tradition."

while i can appreciate the fact that they seem to recuse themselves from being the buyer to avoid a conflict of interest, you can believe the if something substantial came across their desk then they could recommend a dealer for you to see image (in much the same way that any lawyer worth his salt can recommend a good chiropractor, and vice versa)

  • Hi everyone. I am David Conway, the owner of CoolCashCoins. I am thrilled to see that people heard the radio ad - thanks for all the feedback!! I have updated the site so that the ironic typo of "accurately" has been changed. I am a real appraisal/sale business, and I almost never buy collections unless they are of very little value (in which case it would cost you more if I were to list it for sale) or if there is a particular piece of personal interest for my own coin collection (I have been a collector for a long time).

I can appraise your collection or inheritance, and sell it for you if you wish. I usually drive directly to the location of the collection so that the owner will not have to worry about transporting it.

No collection is too large or too small. If you only have a couple of coins and don't want a full appraisal, I will often appraise them for free if you send scans.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please post here (or on my site) or feel free to give me a call. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    David

    Hi David --

Have you ever visited the nearby Longacre Estate?

    Edited to add: "Hi David"

  • Unfortunately, I have not. Why?

If you happen to drive by the Longacre Estate, report back to us about same [size of the Mansion, Pool House, Guest House, Servants' Quarters, Gargage, Livery, Stables, Riding Paddock, G-4 Hanger, Private Airstrip, Boathouse, Yacht Slip, Dry Dock, Farmhouse, Diamond Mine, Gold Mine, Oil Field, and assorted Outbuildings; size of the total estate property in hectares; the state of the manicuring of the estate grounds; and the security features around, in, on and over the estate grounds to control access and keep out the riff raff; etc.].

We here on the forums have imagined what the Longacre Estate is comprised of, but many, if not most, have never be favored with a first had, detailed description of its magnificanceimage and would hope, one day, to be so blessed.
