Seems to me someone will learn a costly lesson here.. Will ebay buyer protection cover this?

Alright! Who removed the cork from my lunch?

There is a 7 day money back...

I once purchased a raw 1916-S on eBay, but it looked like an original coin. It currently resides in a PCGS VF-20 holder.

That being said, I don't think I would have bid on this coin.

It's fake. The last two numerals in the date are totally wrong.
    When in doubt, don't.

There just simply ought to be a way to stop such activity on Ebay. These coins with altered dates seem to be everywhere. Although buyers should know better, these kinds of coins ought to "NEVER" be listed in the first place IMHO. Bob [supertooth]

I don't think anyone would disagree with you. The problem is what to do. Suggestions?

With something like 70,000 auctions a day on US coins alone (never mind all the other collectibles from fashion to gems and jewelry), ebay can't police it. Our best chance it to encourage collectors to report fakes.

Crazy - an obvious alteration, being sold out of the Philipinnes.....and apparently no alarms went off for the buyer.
