Nice piece Zohar. The patina and grey colors support the theme well don't they? There are some amazing rouble designs over the years, but I am a fan of the pre-1917 myself.
Zohar, that rouble was an impulse purchase for me too at NYINC 2008, as well as a colorful 1926 version of Hyperion's poltina, both raw. Worldcoinguy is right, they can't compare to Czarist roubles, but the naivete of these early Communist designs as well as their reasonable prices make them irresistable.

Oh thank you, and you too Rob. I clearly remember picking up the 50K on my way to K.Stephens' table where I found the rouble. Slabbed them sold them, gone. I actually repurchased the rouble a few months later, but that too is gone. I was thinking of posting a "regrets" thread with all the coins I sold but still like....
Anyway, they sell for less now, than 2-3 years ago. Just like elsewhere, once novice collectors (Russian in this case) have it all, the prices decline sharply. Their focus shifted to worldcoinguy's beauties.

<< <i>I've always found the design cool. Haven't see too many toned though. Looks nice. >>
What ajaan said, in every particular.
Best I've had was a raw, dark grey XF-ish one with rim damage.
<< <i>Dimitri - yours are PHENOMENAL! >>
I'll second that. 'Course I'm not very surprised, considering the owner.
