I am nonplussed!

I submitted the two coins below for the PCGS Secure Plus service. As expected, both coins came back at the same grades as before (62 and 55, respectively). The turnaround was fast--five days. The expedited new shipping means that PCGS gets your coins back to you much faster than before.
The holder looks and feels a little different to me. Overall, I think it is a very good concept and will support it with future submissions, when appropriate.

to plus it has to be almost the next higher grade,
is that what you thought?
I don't care what the slab says, those coins are way cool!
Hey - Nice coins by the way.

Mine too. Nice coins.
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Yes, dreck.

sorry no plusses; Let me guess: next stop, CAC?

and I have seen ugly tarnished washington quarters get the plus. yes sir. thats fair, yup. fair indeed.
Geez if that were my coin and I had enough money, Id send that BAs^^^d in over and over and over and over and over again until they got sick of seeing it and recognized what great coin it is.
<< <i>As others have pointed out in the past, PCGS doesn't reward originality. >>
Not true from my experience, at least with Walking halves. On average, Walkers with "original skin" will get better grades than "blast white" onces with full luster, but may have been dipped (for a comparable number of hits/hairlines on the surfaces). Either that, or they are "peanalizing" the blast white coins.

I do not intend to send them to the CAC at this time. Maybe later. I have had multiple expert opinions on both coins and do not believe that I will further benefit from another one.
I really did not expect a half upgrade on either coin. The gold dollar is the finest known of the issue (per DW's Dahlonega book), and the 1799 is properly graded (IMO).
The gold dollar was titled in an annoying way in the previous holder, and the 1799 had a scratchy holder. I figured, wth, might as well Secure Plus them. This probably happens a lot--coins that just need to be reholdered get regraded for the heck of it.
Lots of people liked the 1799 when I showed it around Baltimore.
These two are currently my most valuable coins. Unless Ambro makes me an offer I cannot refuse, I plan to keep them for the long haul.
I have one coin in for Secure Plus plus True View via the Collectors Club special (a special Norweb coin), and I will post the results when I get them. The coin was cracked from an NGC AU-58 holder, so there is Plus potential on that one.
Thanks for the props.
I know a lot of forum members cannot comprehend the rarity level that that coin is on. If it were any other series, maybe even a Morgan dollar, with like numbers of survivors....records would be shattered every auction appearance. Imagine, a morgan dollar of a given date and mintmark, with one hundred survivors...and six in mint state. Yeah your coin is beautiful thats one coin that I could see selling only as part of ....estate of etc etc.
You might not got a plus but Im gonna give you nine thumbs up
I just mailed my coin for the CC Special today.
I'm probably out about $55 in shipping just to get a new slab.

<< <i>IMHO they both qualify for a Pig Pen sticker as they are pretty dirty!
That's a great idea. I think in the same spirit of Longacre giving out stickers and pluses, I should award PigPens.
Plus, sticker, etc... regardless those coins are incredible.

Go for it and at the end of the year you could award a PigPen Bobblehead for the Dirtiest of Dirty?
