what exactly is fraying?

Can someone define exactly what fraying means when describing a card's corner?

IMO, it's peeling of the corners into layers

    Could be so.

Or, wearing away that causes the frizzies - little furry or hairlike
cardboard threads - to appear loose or extended/stretched-out
    at the edges or corners.

Get some PSA 7's, use a 10X loupe to look at the corners, and all four corners will likely be frayed...you'll see what it means.

    That's how I'd define it.
