I don't have a picture, but I sent a 1932-S Quarter to PCGS and NGC where it bagged both times by them, then sent it to PCGS again, and it graded MS62.

    I don't have pics either...

    92-P Half, Genuine 1st try, VF25 second.
98-O Half, Genuine 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th tires, F15 fifth. It really SHOULD have graded 25-30... I never understood that one and now have given up on the coin image
    02-O Half, Genuine 1st try, VF25 second.

Those are 3 that come to mind.

    Why did they bag it?

Here's a pic. Was NGC 66RB. Cracked and bagged at PCGS first try. Graded 64RB next. Cracked again for 7070. Sent back to NGC with cracked slab, tag, and auction history with photos. THEY bagged it. Cracked again. Now in 7070.

Wow renomedphys, that Lincoln has been around the block a few times. Quite a journey.

TTT - I hope enough people see threads like this one before cracking out a coin to (re) submit it. The TPGs have excellent people grading submitted coins. But graders are people, and sometimes, people make mistakes.

I'll probably be stepping on toes here, but re the 12 S, if the image is true, I have an issue with the pinkish hue (something I avoid on a business strike copper). The small cluster of tiny spots to the viewer's rt. of Lincoln often relates to dip residue on silver and nickel coinage; this sort of thing does not end well with copper.

  • Too many coins to list.

I've also had one piece receive a "NO DECISION--REFUND" from PCGS and straight grade the second time through.

I will never understand how this can happen. Very disturbing.

Is it just me, or is there just something just plain wrong about the title of this thread? I mean c'mon fellow collectors, either a coin is gradeable, or it's not??? What the heck would be different about the coin after the second, third, fourth, fifth, etc. submission? Sorry, although I know this is the reality of the grading game but IMHO, it doesn't have a pleasing scent to it.

The only one I sent back was this 1923-S.

It was in an NGC MS61 Fattie; PCGS said it didn't make my min MS60, I broke it out, sent it back and it went MS63.

Now if they BB or Gen I don't send it back, I just live with it.

Of course it's hard to grade from a photo, but I though NGC graded it correctly at. 61

This could be a very valuable thread if pictures of coins were included such as Matt did.

+1 for more pics. The politics war of coins sent in in competitors slabs getting rejected is interesting.

PCGS DNC at 60 at least you think 61.

I don't see many contact marks on Miss Liberty's face from the Merc's image; I'd think one would expect that for an MS 61 grade.
