Mayberry Flea Market?

I was wondering if anyone has been to this flea market in Mt. Airy,NC. Do they have any coins, if so, silver or gold? Any recommendations on where to go or who to see? Thanks

AFAIK Andy Griffith is still in town.

I drove thru there last weekend - didn't know there was a flea market there.

Priority and I'll send the check.

I'm about 30 mins from Mt. Airy but I've never been to the flea market. I need to check it out sometime.

Hi WrigleyCub. I go through there once or twice a week. When you go in the front door, you will see Folger Tilly's shop 20 feet up the aisle on the right. He and his wife sell lots of flea market-type items, ball caps, jewelry, coins and paper money. He has a fairly nice selection of modern commems, many current mint products at prices close to the mint's, and many trays and 2x2 boxes of coins. Many of the coins on display are well-circulated; that's what most of his customers want. Don't be discouraged if you don't see something to your liking. Just ask him if he has a box of better coins in whatever you like. Or just ask if you can browse some of his better boxes. He and his wife are very warm and friendly, well worth the visit even if you don't find what you want. He has a fair turnover of coins, so it's worth your time to tell him what you like & check back from time to time. It's hard to find other good sources in this area. There's a coin shop on Stratford Rd. in Winston-Salem that I think is good. There's a good coin show in Lexington next weekend, I think. I don't think I'll get to go--it also the weekend of VA Tech's Spring Scrimmage and one must have priorities. If you know of any other good sources, I'd love to hear it. Go see Folger & tell him a customer from Fries recommended him. Good hunting!

Watch out for that Floyd the barber, I always wondered about him.image This might be a good place for my nomination as the best ever sitcom character, Don Knotts whom I think edges out Art Carney, Kramer, and Tim Conway.

He sells silver and gold. Very few slabbed coins. Most of the gold sells at close to bullion price.

I think I remember that scene, Barney is under cover standing on the street and Opie walks up and says "hey Barney".

Nope, Andy's got a house on the Outer Banks, near Nags Head I believe.

"If you have time to see Aunt Bea, get me a piece of her pie, will ya?"

Frances Bavier, who played Aunt Bea, retired to Siler City, NC. She really
loved the area, but because of the rabid fans of the show, she became
reclusive. She died in 1989, and is buried in Siler City.

Do I wanna know where he keeps his bullet, seeing how he has no shirt, and used to keep it in his shirt pocket?
