From the cover of Coin World:

"If the record demand for American Eagle silver bullion coins continues this year, no Proof versions of the 2010 coins are likely to be produced, according to Mint Director Edmund C. Moy.

I'm ranting because of the Silver Eagle Proof series being disrupted.

That really ticks me off as well. I really liked the ASE Proofs. Also gave them out to newborns in the family. I still think there is more to the story than we know... it just does not seem logical - to me. Then again, I have an illogical mind. image Cheers, RickO

I don't like Moy and his ill thought decisions. According to the law, the US Mint is supposed to mint to "public demand" and there most cetainly is "public demand" for the collector versions of these coins. Ignoring that so they can post "record sales" is simply irresponsible and totally dissing the collecting community which he so loves to pander too!

As for planchet availability, there has been at least one planchet supplier that the US Mint thumbed their noses at, otherwise they have plenty to go around. These were qualified planchets as well.

I just don;t understand the logic behind the decision. These were produced early in the production cycle and speculating what the demand would be come December as a decision tool on whether or not to proceed with production seems a bit silly.

BTW, none of this qualifies for a You Suck award....................................... it just sucks.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

<< <i>I may care about these coins in about 200 years.................................................................................................nah.....................cause they won't be 400 years old with much smaller mintages and done by hand.

Classic cronyism for a numismatist, Al. But then, it has to be legendary before some people care.
