Hey Andy, judging from the responses, we should be okay on our lots of choice! image

Maybe not. I plan on bidding on all the coins you're bidding on.

Another choice-gem 1774-JR PTS 8R from the hoard! These are everywhere.

There's one in the Heritage CICF, a former CRO coin. I viewed this particular one at Dan's office. I grade it 62PL. There are approximately another 20 that should be coming to the market in the future.

Are those the "Cuzco Hoard" pieces I see popping-up everywhere?

No Roman, the 1774's are from a hoard that was first brought to light by my friend, Louis Hudson, in 1974. At that time, roughly 200 of the 225 or so pieces were dispersed. These would be the remaining 25 pieces (although, I've heard that some of the pieces from the first group are also coming to light. The Heritage 2004 FUN (ex. Morris Geiger) piece was part of that group. I was, unfortunately, underbidder on that one.

Thanks as well, Gary. Interesting info about the hoard. I have never heard the "story."

Do you happen to know where these came from?

I liked the story (true or not) about the 1770 Charles III Colombian Pillar. If true, at least we now know where those came from after 239 years.

How did you fare in the Sedwick auction? Still another day to go....

Went 2 for 2. Lots 1254 and 1281. Not sure why i didn't purchase 1254 at the Whittier sale in 2006, but got it this time.

Excellent. I may try for some tomorrow.

Too many auctions in April (and September)!

I picked up lot 1522. It was the only lot I was willing to bid on sight unseen.
