Interesting counterstamp...

Most of you know i like counterstamped coins.....well, couple that with a twisted sense of humor and you can see why i wanted this lil porker so bad:

    yes the term "PORK" is incuse along the body of the piggie......i would think it probably had political meaning at the time.......incedently, i should point out that these are two separate stamps (their positioning was inadvertant)

    I have the same stamp on an 1838 Dime...at least I think I didn't sell that one...

    I would say it could be political, however it could just as easily be from a producer of pork products or a butcher. Unfortunately there is little else to go on due to the lack of additional information on the coins.

    finally have the piece in hand (coin was shipped from New Zealand)

    a few members PM'd me asking if both pigs were one single stamp or the result of two stamps inadvertantly (or intentionally) placed.......they are most definately two separate stamps (see Brunk example below)
