Central States in Milwaukee, who's going??

dohdoh Posts: 6,457 ✭✭✭
It's about a month away and I'm excited! I haven't been to a coin show, let alone a big one, in quite some time. I look forward to actually seeing some coins in person, not just on my computer screen!!

Who's all going to be there?

I find Milwaukee a pretty hip city and that's coming from someone who has lived in DT Seattle , LA , NYC and Brookyln ( Williamsburg).....Anyways, I heard they really put some $$$ into their DT. I hope I can get away from work for this. MJ

Other than for the good German cuisine I dread going to Milwaukee. I still don't understand why the ANA and CSNS governors enjoy scheduling conventions in Milwaukee. I know I'm not the only one who isn't a fan.

The convention center itself is perfectly fine, but for nearby hotel choices you have hotel "A", dated and dreary (not to mention an idiot front desk staff comes standard), and hotel "B", really dated and dreary. I still recall at the ANA convention in 2007 some of us, as the only feasible form of post-bourse entertainment, were relegated to riding the glassback elevators at hotel "A" up and down all night. Elevators aren't that fun, but we had no choice. Hotel "B" has a small waterpark in the basement, but whether it'll be open or not is unknown.

I will be at the show from Thursday until Saturday.

Apparently there's a very nice hotel directly adjacent to the museum as well. That's actually where I'm planning to stay this time. It sure looks nicer than those two previously mentioned places.

Weather is cold (at least for this SoCal gal) but very pretty and sunny. PNG day was yesterday, bought some beauties, including a great 1877 PCGS 64 BN, some nice large cents, and some other pretty Indian cents. Went to the PNG party at our hotel bar after PNG day, had some great wine there, then went to the Indian casino to play some poker of course. Won a little, then lost it at Black Jack, dang it! Played with Rick, and 3 other dealers, plus my son Troy. Had a ton of fun. Set up is all day today, so bought some more nice coins! Now I need to sell, sell, sell! Tonight is German food, then we'll play some pool and more drinking of course! Looking forward to seeing some of you board members tomorrow! I'm at table 113, on the left side wall - just look for my big red "The Penny Lady" banner!!!!
