I heard he was bammed because he inadvertantly had picture with a bad link in it or something like that? I agree with the others, for all the good that the Mad One has done around here, he deserved some kind of warning first.

HRH allowed for discussion for why a member was bammed so that others could make sure to not make the same mistake, can we be told why ANACONDA and MadMarty were bammed instead of just wild speculation?
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

Marty is a nice guy and was a good ambassador of the PCGS brand. He might be a bit kooky (aren't we all?), but he is as good natured as they come.

I find it hard to believe Marty did something to warrant his being banned, and I would guess he was just trying to be funny. This place needs his humor.

    we collect...we ARE collectors.

our lives are made up of so much more than the disks we collect.....series, denomination, color, vg or mint state?
these are only facets of what makes us up as collectors.

we also like to live, love and laugh AT what we do and are as collectors.

to limt the forum to information only that is "ON TOPIC" without any flexability... takes all the fun out of it...and really retards the name "forum" beyond recognition.

in this new world order ...anything typed or said is dryly looked at with a jaundice eye toward the "what if it was meant negatively?"...and then is aborted on that judgement only...afraid to laugh at themselves or anything else.

    what of the future collectors?

It is sad when the spine-less lose their senses of humour.... and their minds narrow along with their vision.

I'm also in the "bring Marty back" camp, but to be fair to the other side strike one, two and three 'warnings' are stickied right at the top of this forum.

I must agree with the sentiments of this thread... Marty is a knowledgable and dedicated collector... and as harmless as any grown human can be... an all around nice guy... it is a shame that he was booted from this forum...

PCGS... no one is perfect... not him... not me... not anyone here... and even if this is YOUR forum... not even you...

Please try to remember... if you only surround yourself with "yes men/women"... you will never realize how you might be on a wrong path until the buzzards are picking at your bones... that is not a threat nor a slander... just a wise truth taught to me long ago...
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free image

I agree with this. To have "only on topic" and to have the board wolves ready to pounce when one gets slightly off does drain the fun sometimes.

I have been here a short time and do not know Marty very well. Marty has admitted he inadvertently made a mistake and apoligized. My suggestion is drop this and let some time pass. Our hosts are very busy right now with a major maket initiative, and time heals all wounds. Something stops stinking when you stop stirring it. JMHO.

Haven't been here for very long but anyone that can make me laugh like that one cac gold bean and be a valued contributor to a community forum dedicated to coin collecting deserves to stick around so that in addition to all his friends on here, people like me can continue to learn about coin collecting in an environment where the aim isn't collecting slabs, grades, or to "make money really fast" as BNB put it. The focus should be more about the coins, a good banter, excellent education from forum members and fostering a lifelong enjoyment of collecting the the things that make your business and this forum possible. If you take out all that listed above (which is what you do when you remove people like Madmarty) you turn the coin market into a depersonalized market like the stock market and in turn you become a ratings agency like Moody's:S&P:Fitch, and thats it. And just so you know, I don't "collect" stocks, I don't log onto Moody's website and go into their forum and learn about the history of the stock that I just bought, I don't take pictures of the stock I just bought, I don't talk to other members about their opinion of the quality of a stock and I don't find myself at night pulling out my stock to gaze at it, letting the light refract off it's surfaces. Nope, I treat stocks like BNB treats coins. They are there to make money, that is it and I don't care who rates them.

Long winded, yes. But like I said I highly value the ability to make me laugh like Marty did, and the willingness of everyone here to help me pursue coin collecting (especially anyone who has looked at my photos or been peppered with my pm's).

So....why don't you just bring him back.

I think it would be appropriate to give Marty a break as it was an inadvertent mistake, and he did apologize. Hope this can be done.

Marty made a mistake in his haste. Maybe he will have learned from it.
He didn't go off on a rampage and attack other members nor backtalk management/PCGS.

I would hope for a temporary timeout and penance image

no campaign should be needed. Marty should(if he already hasn't) contact PCGS and talk to them, or better still, just see them face-to-face at the next show he attends. if coinguy1 can return, well, this just doesn't seem like it's the same type of transgression and there apparently was no warning.
