Complete Barber-half Collection - FINALLY! After 19 years - Lot's o'BIG pics inside!
Purchased the first coins on 3-15-1991 and the final coin (1892-S) bought on eBay on 3-12-2010.
Admittedly this set is no candidate for any PCGS reference set, but it is my first complete set of any series beginning in the 19th Century. All are average circulated and I can only imagine the tales they have to tell!

So nice to see a full album, too. Thanks for sharing. Quarters next?

THis is the BIG ONE for you!

That's a very nice looking, well matched set from what I can tell ... patience pays off in spades ... a set to be proud of!

It's the collecting that's fun and I enjoy putting sets together like you have just done. Of the barber silver coins, the halves are easiest to complete, the dimes next, and the quarters are the toughest (because of the big three). The quarters without the big three are certainly not all that bad.
Good luck in your collecting.
Mine are also in the G-F range. Do the dimes next, they are fun too.
<< <i>Congrats. That's a nicely matched set of barber halves, and is quite nice. I see them as mostly worn without heavy cleaning or whizzing/polishing. It is a good set to put together as it takes time to find decent coins, but they can be had in low grades and a complete set is within the budget of a good many people. With a set like you have, you can consider completed as is. It also gives you the opportunity to upgrade those coins in the set that may be a bit more worn than you like. Many of us end up starting duplicate sets and keep going.

Thanks for the complements Dr. Pete (and All!)
I still need 7 to complete the Barber Quarter set, all in similar condition as in the OP. But as you mentioned, the Big 3 are probably valued at more than the entire 73-coin half collection depicted above. But pursuit of the entire series over time is what collecting is all about to me!

Congratuations on your set and a job well done.
I also appreciate this thread, first one I've even bothered to open in about a week now!
I wish more people on the forum would show their hard work like this. I enjoy these kind of threads.
I also am working on a Barber Half set (VG grade).....
Quite a fun challenge to collect these.....
What is the next challenge?

How about BArber quarters or dimes?? The dimes will be easier, but the quarters are always a nice challenge. I am also working on these two sets. For the quarters, I need the 01S, 00S, and the 03S. I have all the rest. I need eight dimes still.
Congratulations and I know what a sense of accomplishment
it is to complete that set. As Dr.Pete mentioned, you'll probably
start another set in the next grade ... I also how addicting they are.

That's kinda funny! I completed a Washington Quarter set about 3 yrs. ago. Most Unc. but not the early dates. About 2 years ago I started upgrading and I'm on the '32-D short of a complete Unc. set. This too was a set started decades ago and is not the first that I've worked on upgrading of the past decade or so. I expect to acquire that eslusive '32-D this year. I'll post the album pages when it's done.
I read alot on here about the proverbial "box of 20", but somehow I still like pluggin holes and slots in alums. I'm no coin investor afterall, but just a humble collector. And I like completeness as much as the next guy. I love looking at threads here of complete sets. Just glad I had to opportunity to share one of mine!

Congrats! Nice matched set
So..... what's next?
Congrats on completing your set.....it's way cool.......
A while back a board member used this quote in his/hers sig line......I think it applies here...
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; un-rewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”
-Calvin Coolidge
Good luck in the future . . on the next set!

I love the look of your set, nicely matched and I love the Whitman album too, well done indeed!

Griv, I spoke with all 73 individually, I even had to grill a few, but rest assured none had anything to say about you. But as for your ancestors
