Today's Change Find

I got a silver Rosie dime in change today. I knew it was silver before the store guy even had it out of the change tray, but I had to wait until i got home to read the date. While driving home, I tried to squint at it from all angles for a few moments (yes I had one eye on the road), but I just couldn't make out the date. funny how I can't see the date, but i can tell it was silver from 10 feet away.? I thought it would only be 1964 or 63 like all the rest, but when got it home and looked with a 7x BL Tripplet, it read 1946. Then I turned it over, and again I need a glass just to see the MM, and it is an S!

wow 1946S - only one year removed from a Mercury, which I have never found in change !

Anyone else have change finds lately ?

Very nice! I was doing my change bucket search that I do before I cash in pocket change when I'm strapped for cash and found a 29-D wheat. Although a wheaty it beats the heck out of a '44 or 57-D wheat find.

Plucked my first ever 1957-D Roosevelt and a nice near MS 1975 Roosevelt for the Dansco folder. I'll post pics of them in a different thread later.

I actually received a Merc ('43) in change about three months ago (think I mentioned it here before). Was a real surprise. Saw it as I flash counted my change.. then got out to the car and admired it for about five minutes. About XF... Cheers, RickO

A silver find in change is always nice. I got a 39 Mercury about a month ago. I didn't realize it until I got home. I would have checked for more had I immediately noticed.

Always a good feeling when you find silver in change, and it's an even better feeling when it's a better date!! Nice find!

A few years ago, I got an AU war nickel in change at a bakery that is next door to a coin shop I frequent. I took the nickel into the shop to see if the owner recognized it. I was afraid someone purchased the coin and inadvertently spent it. But the owner did not recognize the coin so I still have it.
