Are the Chinese just scapegoats for a lot of counterfeits?

A lot of other countries could be doing the same thing. North Korea produces loads of good fake 100.00 bills. Some of the fake slabs, inserts and coins could be easily produced right here in the USA. What do you think, could China just be a smokescreen

In several Chinese markets, I have seen not only US coins, but French and older Chinese coins. All don't "ring" true, though several I've seen were pretty good. And those are just laying out on tables and in dusty corners of every shop. Crazy.
Also, North Koreans produce some interesting coins...I've got several. Maybe I should start a thread of those...??
What about all the bad krugerands and AGE's and Saints on the market that are way better copies that fool dealers everyday?
I would love to see a thread on the North Korean stuff if you have time
I don't know much about the AGEs or gold issues...can't have much of an opinion there. The Chinese fakes I've seen in the little shops have all made me stop and look...and wonder what the heck it is doing in that little shop. I guess I'm not too up on the fake market on ebay -- as you note -- the Chinese are pretty good at what they do. But then again, how's this for an explanation: there are definently different "grades" of fakes in China for all kinds of products, and those all have different price points. So maybe the bad stuff on Ebay is someone being cheap and getting the "low quality" fake, vs. the stuff that dealers get faked out on that is the higher priced "high quality" knock-off. Just a thought. This argument would probably apply to most "fakers" out there as well, not strickly to China. (Shoot, DVDs have all kinds of different quality in the various markets around the world!)
Cheers!

Probably....they outsource the plasic slabs and labels to other countries but mainly concentrate on the coins themselves....
