Block this eBayer!!!!!

GRANDAMGRANDAM Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭✭✭
I had an auction end at 12:30 am Sunday morning. Buyer paid at 9:00pm Sunday evening.

I left town at 2:00pm Sunday afternoon before buyer paid. I just returned home and found that buyer had paid so I sent an e-mail saying I would mail the coin tomorrow. Within minutes I received the following e-mail:

"I really am not sure why you waited so long to ship that is very dissapointing."
Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

I was kinda upset after receiving what I consider and UNREASONABLE and UNCALLED for e-mail.

Buyer ID is key_dates

The buyer used what appears to be his wife's account but it is key_dates and the person in question in the link below provided by Barndog

How did the buyer pay before the sale ended? Or are you saying it was 6 days later?

I think Gary meant the auction ended on Monday the 15th and the buyer paid on Sunday the 21st and then questioned why it took so long to ship the coin.

    Some folks are insanely unreasonable.

Seems a bit hasty given these details to block the bidder or necessarily expect negative feedback.

I would not send such a message, but you also did not mention that you told the buyer why you would mail the coin outside of the two-day promise listed in your auction.

So are you saying the buyer paid within 24 hours (9pm Sunday, when the auction ended Sunday morning at 12:30 am). First, you said that they waited so long to pay. Within 24 hours is very reasonable. I also think the buyer may be a little trigger happy, saying you should have shipped sooner. I think a little better direct communication could have helped here.

"Hi, thank you for payment. As I mentioned in the auction, I am out of town and will ship your package on Tuesday when I return."

Ebay has sure given everyone warped expectations. As a side note, maybe not having an auction end when your going to be gone would be helpful to your cause. I don't mean to sound like I'm jumping on you, just saying there could have been other ways to handle it.

    I hope it works out.

If buyer pays me with in 3 days of the auction ending, that's fine with me. Even if they don't, I simply send a friendly reminder after 3 days. There have been times when as a buyer I set a snipe several days before the auction ended, and fogot about it. I then log on a couple days after the auction ended and realized I won the coin. Things like this do happen. I don't think the shipping 2 days after the auction ended is excessive either. My personal opinion, I bit of over reaction from both parties.

Won't add this one to my.....blocked list(Book). Don't think you'll get a neg.,unless you said something unnice in a message or she reads this forum image..........Perhaps a low "star" rating on shipping/time. She just may have been really excited about winning lot,and wanted the coin now. Sure many here had that, couldn't wait to see coin in hand thought/ feeling.

if I recall my forum gossip, scamming, and mud-slinging correctly, the buyer ID "key_dates" belongs to none other than FEC. That's reason enough unless one likes to deal with the untruthful.

Lack of communication by the Seller. As mentioned before, a quick email to the buyer(s) indicating his trip would have avoided this.

I allow 7 days for payment. If I am out of town and can not ship the coin, I contact the buyer and offer to give a discount back for the wait time. Most buyers are reasonable and understand.

    a) You shouldn't schedule an auction to end while you're out of town.

    b) If you insist on doing so, at least give buyers the courtesy of informing them in the auction listing.

    c) It is silly to ask others to block someone simply because he/she called you on A and B above.

Russ, Barndog and others; the original buyer ID mentioned in the unedited opening post was not "key_dates" or FEC. The OP specifically wrote that he thought the buyer was a woman and used a pejorative female term to describe her. It appears that the other user names or IDs were added later.

    Auction listing states:

    Domestic handling time-

Will usually ship within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment.

The seller could mail it tonight and still meet the auction terms to the letter. Even if the item is mailed tomorrow, I'm not sure what the fuss is. Sure, it says "2 business days", but it also says "Will usually ship..." And besides- in the overall scheme of things, is one day (actually, probably not even a full day) really that big a deal?

IMHO, some people need to relax a bit and not stress over every tiny detail. Unless stressing over the details makes you happy, that is... image

If you sell on eBay, you better not.

I mailed a check to a friend last month. A week and a half later, he called me to ask if I'd sent it yet because he hadn't received it. I said "Sure, I did" and sent him another one just in case. The second one arrived in two days and the first, three days later. I hate to think what kind of hassle I'd've had if it had been an eBay item instead.
