Some classic gold coins that they were going to release to the public? I was half paying attension and thought I heard this on the radio. Probably some private mint though that was going to unload some baggy coins for over twice their value.

It was definitely NOT the United States Mint. Probably one of the bogus ads "we found a hoard of gold coins from europe...etc"

reminds me of the advertisement of the HOARD of 3430 circulated 1921 Morgan dollars found, that you can buy any amount for only $30 each

it never ceases with that carp. i read a story in the vam book about the government sale of the silver dollars in the 1970s and early 80. i wonder if they would ever do that again?

I think they found some misplaced LP1 orders from first quarter last year.
  • Yep,

Classic uncirculated gold coin hoard just released ... 1886-1933. They never mention price, but you can book on it being much more than you'd pay at a show and their idea of uncirculated differs greatly from yours. Run, Forest, Run!

I heard this ad on the radio today. I wonder if it will be like the Morgan Dollar hoard of 3,000 or so that has been selling for years.

This reminds me of a Persian Rug Merchant in town who has been having a "going out of business sale" for the last thirty years.
