1917 Catskills Aqueduct medal-Medallic Arts

Has anyone ever seen or have knowledge of the 38mm size in a metal/alloy other than bronze?

Just curious

How big of a deal would it be for one to surface that is not bronze?

It is not silver-it is not bronze-

If you have seen the Medallic Arts medal for Adolf Zukor/Paramount that was done in 1937, well, this medal is likely the same composition as that

i know about HK-738 for Paramount but you'd have to post a picture of this 1936 medal you referenced. in all honesty, you're asking for help in ID'ing a medal which your vague description isn't helping at all. without a picture or some type of good worded description to help, you probably won't get an answer here, unless you happen to catch the attention of a member who has seen EXACTLY the same medal your talking about.

HK-738 was produced by Whitehead & Hoag, and it was produced in bronze. If you have a Catskill Aqueduct that looks the same, then my guess is that it simply toned dark.

The Catskill Aqueduct medal was also produced in a 3-inch version, and that larger version was struck in silver as well as bronze. I don't know of any small-sized ones in silver.

    Thanks for the replies-

The Medal is 38MM in size- Catskills Aqueduct dated 1917 and really is identical to HK667- it really is HK667 except it is not bronze

I apologize for confusing people with the Paramount/Zukor Medallic Arts medal- I only used that as an example to give folks an idea was to what metal/alloy that may have been used here.

This is a wonderful item and is something I have never seen and based on the responses- it is something others have not seen either

  • I would agree with Jonathanb here, in that, it is probably a toned bronze piece!

  • Silver pieces are very possible, even though I've never heard of one. I've seen several unlisted off-metal pieces for other so-calleds in the hands of both John Dean and Jeff Shevlin.

The word may come toward the end of the week- and for those of you who tooned in late- I may need to expand the scope of the thread if we encounter disappointment...

    Sorry for not having pictures

Oh, to keep it coin related.
