Two Cents on the supposed "Big One."
No matter what it is, it's going to be a let down. We've been yapping about it for weeks and there's no way it's going to live up to the hype. Nor is it possible to please everyone, so the percentage of people who are ticked off are going to fill this board for weeks more with complaints and suggestions about what the Big One should have been.
And I'll start. I hope the Big One is high res images of each coin graded by PCGS from here on out. A master database would be a wonderful tool against fake coins and slabs.
The Big One has been revealed...I - and many other people - were sort of right about "images" of coins being submitted...I just wish it was all coins submitted. Oh well. I think the Big One is still certainly a big step in the right direction. Maybe it should have been called "The Big Step"

I think PCGS is smart enough to know not to over-hype for this reason. And yet I keep going back to those words..."I promise you you'll love it! In February, 1986, we flicked a switch and changed the market...we're going to flick another switch on March 25..."
So I expect a BIG ONE. I'm from Missouri but I'm still excited.

While that would be awesome it hardly comes close to anything "big", imo, nor would it take 2 years or six months to develop as homerunhall puts it. Not knocking your hopes. It's got to be some sort of joint business venture or something of the like, if it took two years to develop.
The most healthy thing they could do for the market as a whole (which in no small part includes them) is whatever they can to make the hobby more accessible and interesting to more people.
IMO, with all of the hype, I see the following for myself*:
5% chance of having my socks knocked off
10% chance of being pleased with it
25% chance of having an immediate neutral or wait-and-see disposition
40% chance of having no interest in it
20% chance of being opposed to it
* Depending on your collecting interests and style and view of PCGS and TPGs, your number may vary.

Is Martha Stewart buying?

Companies buy similar domain names all the time, to prevent others from doing so and creating brand confusion or dilution.
Again, if auctions are the Big One, it's no biggie to me. What is PCGS going to do that Heritage, Goldberg, Stack's, ANR, Teletrade, B&M, David Lawrence, Superior, Scotsman, Legend-Morphy, etc. did not?

I'd give about the same numbers for my expectations at this point. I might raise the "socks off" probability to 10% because I'm always optomistic. --jerry

However, they do own:
CCEQP.COM
CCEQUICKPRICE.COM
Both of which were registered late last year. Unfortunately, David Hall poo-pooed my prediction which involved those two domains.

the other thread is filled with "what elses."
but I don't think that many people will be upset their idea was not the one.... although I wonder how many will be pushing their idea as "the next one."
