What is the accepted view of the term "Godzilla Coin" ?

1. It may mean that the coin has remarkable and unbelievable toning.
2. It may mean that the coin in in remarkable, original condition, rarely seen.
3. It may be purely hype
4. It may be 1 & 2 both.
5. Would this term be applied to a truly, very nice looking coin or only those rarely seen,
spectacular coins?
What is your understanding of the term?Of course it is usually interchangeable with monster,
mind blowing, unbelievable, Gonzo ect, ect.

Well I'm very picky when it comes to calling a coin monster.

Really? Come on, really?
Anyways, Godzilla trumps Moose which trumps Monster in my book....................(although Moose in addition can mean killer strike)
I don't think you should be able to call your own coins any of the above. It's better form to let someone else do it for you. That's just my take. MJ
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Yes really. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on what monster means, because not everyone has access to such coins. Like the Proof dollar posted above, that coin is a freaking MONSTER!!!

<< <i>Here's one. It's for sale, too. Can't remember where, though.
Sick. Just sick. Makes me want to play the lottery
Godzilla Coin
A coin does not have to be toned to be called a monster...it just has to have unbelievable eye appeal and usually monsters are condition rarities or at least high grade.
<< <i>When I hear such terms at a coin show or shop, I walk away. To me it signifies a distinct lack of communication skills. While using metaphors to describe something is acceptable to some extent, terms such as 'godzilla' or 'monster' are merely sub-intellectual attempts to hide an inability to coherently communicate in English. Cheers, RickO >>
Agree. Dealer hype to justify a high ask price. Save the B.S. and just show me the coin and give me your best price. I'll either play or pass.

I agree. The coin dork culture and sci-fi geek culture are two worlds that should never collide. The last thing we need at coin shows is people walking around coin shows dressed as a storm trooper or Spock.

rather artistic and poetic way. However, I still prefer that the coin be described as to
its, stike characteristics, originality, surfaces, marks and toning if any. The Hyperbole
used on a coin will neither detract or enhance my appreciation of the coin. It must still
meet my own standards and taste as a collector.
I am always amazed at how dealers can accurately describe the colors on a coin. The names
are often so exotic , that I do hnot know if one is to eat the coin or admire the coin. Often, I
have to run to my Crayola Crayon Box of 100, just to see what the color described actually
looks like.
