I asked Heritage at the FUN show, and they had none for sale.
If the book does a good job of providing the latest info about these coins, WITH GOOD PHOTOS, I'd pay $75 for it.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I ordered one in December and received an order confirmation, but have never received it. I'm not certain if I was billed for it and I should check, but it is something that always slips my mind.

I had to wait over a year to get the two volume set of Bowers silver dollar books. They offered a refund, but I held on. As turned out those books are collectors' items ... at least until they are re-printed.

I have a copy on my desk. The pictures are excellent. For those who have the book, please note that the reverse picture at the top of P. 3 should be upside down. They will correct it in future printings. TD

Excellent book. More info however has come out since it was published.
A summary chapter regarding what's agreed upon, what's still controversial (ie: no agreement between the experts) and what still awaits discovery would have been VERY useful.

Agreed. Bob Julian's opinions are, shall we say, underreported. TD

That was one of the first things I realized when I got my copy. A pity. The book would have been stronger, IMHO, with all opposing points of view given equal air time. Still, it is a good book to have since it draws a lot of the existing research all into one place.
Has anybody been able to successfully order one of these from Heritage?

Ordered one in December and received an order confirmation, but no book. I emailed Heritage later on and never received any response regarding the status of my order.
I went throught the ordering process three times before I finally recieved one. I forgot to update the board on my purchase - sorry.
Anyway, twice I went through the process and twice by order was cancelled. I called to find out what was going on and while on the phone I ordered another one and had the guy look at it. For some reason, at least I was told, that the system was/is cancelling orders 'just because'
So anyway, the third time was the charm - I actually told them that I was trying to give them $75 but that they did not seem to want my money....argh!!
So, I love the book! I think it has excellent background information as well as lots of pictures - BUT as others have stated it seemed lacking somewhat. For $75 I would have liked a little more. Still, it is a good reference, especially for those of us who may never own one of these beauties!
