Tiger Woods autograph on Hooters Menu?

I have a Tiger Woods Autograph (PSA 10) from 1996 in Tulsa that I am looking to sell but have no clue where to try to sell something like that. Any advice?

The value would increase if the menu was scored indicating the holes played and strokes needed for front and back nine.

  • I am looking to sell it. My real problem is an unknown asking price. I don't even know a range. I should have it back from PSA anyday, I think I thought they would advise on that but apparently not.

With all due respect, that's a terrible ebay auction. I'd pull that thing this minute or start adding to the description.

You're a seller with a whopping 5 feedback so I understand you may be a novice. But with an item like this, you need more pictures, you need to include all the PSA/DNA information, number, etc.

I think you're leaving a lot of money on the table right now. JMO.

  • yeah, I've got to agree. Here are my tips...

    1) Start the bidding at 99 cents. You've got a reserve and the low starting bid will attract more bidders

    2) spend the extra $$$ on additional pix. A close up of the auto, a close up of just the menu like you have, and an overall photo of the menu in the PSA holder.

    3) Note the cert # in the description

    4) shippings a bit high, you want to offer insurance. (sorry, off topic)

Anyway, I hope this helps. Good luck with your auction.

    Robert
  • I agree. I also think your low feedback number will keep the price down. You may want to consider consigning the item to a higher profile eBay dealer. The increased cost should be absorbed by the increased sale price.
  • Glad I posted! Can I pull it off and redo it. I can add pics, I just dont know what you mean by adding a better description. Thanks, all of you.
  • DboneesqDboneesq Posts: 18,219 ✭✭
Not sure if you made any changes, but two of the pictures are upside down. Also, the closeup of the auto is not very clear and should be even closer, IMO. Do you have a scanner to use?

Edited to add: Why make the auction private? I think some people shy away from auctions when they are private. What do you other guys think?

I would make the listing "non-private."

    Scans are better than photos.

The body copy lacks both sizzle and eye-appeal.

The shipping scheme is nonsense. It should be a low flat-rate for Priority, or "free."

The low feedback is prolly a bid/price-killer.

    .....................................................

"I have event magazine, day pass (bad condition) also."

Are they included in the sale?

Are they just illustrated for fun?

    Terrible.

    .......................

If it was my item, I would have used a VERY HIGH BIN with Best Offer, on a 30-day listing.

    .......................................

The item has sex-appeal, but it may be destined to be grabbed cheap by a reseller SIMPLY
because the listing is soooooooo weak.

  • I suck. Is there anything I can still do to get a better price, is it too late to pull off now that I have bids on it already?

You can cancel even with the bid - no worries there. And agree with others - more/better pics, pimp the psa/dna aspect, and clearly state what (if anything) else may be included to further enhance provenance and authenticity. Your low feedback may still be a hindrance for some bidders - perhaps even tossing in a pic with your user name? Cheesy, but shows you have it in-hand.

I'm not sure you even know how to end the listing. Go the HELP section at the top right of the MY EBAY and type in "end my listing early" you will type in the auction # and choose one of the reason's for ending your listing. "There was an error in the listing" is probably your best choice.

I would go with a title like this...

Tiger Woods Authentic PSA/DNA 10 Autograph! Signed on Hooters Menu

    sub title...
RARE one of a kind Woods Signature!

I would then use scans of the menu as a whole. Then a scan of the autograph up close. A scan of all the elements included in the auction. and then a scan of the menu with your ebay user name to show that you have it in hand.

The body copy of the auction should be something like this...

Here is a rare chance to own a piece of history! I was luck enough to personally obtain a signature of Tiger Woods when I attended the (fill in info here). I had him sign an actual Hooters menu to make this a truly one of a kind autograph.

This item has been reviewed by the world's leading autograph authenticator PSA/DNA and received a grade of 10. You can view the certificate online at (insert website here) using the certificate number (insert number here).

I suggest taking a picture of the item with your face peering in from behind it. Oh yeah, and take your clothes off too before you take the pic.

I agree with everything above. I might add a "GEM MINT" somewhere in the title and "Auto." Both of those terms are widely searched and definitely should include one.

If you are unwilling to offer free shipping buyers generally don't care if they pay an extra $10 on a $700+ item. I know I wouldn't.

  • Died laughing at the "probably dont know how to end an auction", I looked in the mirror while I did it. And if I learned anything I will rock a sweet picture of me naked holding the menu. My wife already thought I was stupid. Thanks for all the advice. I will take it down tonight and reboot. What are you guys saying about maybe consigning to someone with a better rating?
  • Storm, what is a VERY HIGH BIN ?
  • storm888storm888 Posts: 11,701 ✭✭✭

    << <i>Storm, what is a VERY HIGH BIN ? >>

    ///////////////////////

BIN = Buy It Now listing.

I like 30-day BINs; other sellers like shorter ones.

You set a high price and entertain offers with the BO feature.

My WAG is that such a BIN/BO should be about $600 above the
most expensive TW certified-auto, flat-item that has moved in
the last 30-days. (The words in your listing need to justify some
of that price difference, but some is built in due to the "sex" angle.)

I would prolly price the item at about 35%+ more than I was happy
to accept on a BO. Sometimes, you get lucky and somebody just
hits the original BIN w/o making an offer.

    ....................................

    RE: Low Feedback

With PayPal's "Buyer Protection" scheme, lots of buyers rely
less on FB than they used to.

Nobody here can say for "certain" exactly how much the low
FB will/might reduce the sale price. It is safe to assume there
    will be some redcution.

If there was a 15% reduction in the sale price, you would need
to get 20% more via a consigned transaction to make it worth
    the hassle of consigning.

Single-digit FB is tough to overcome among some buyers, BUT the
PSA/DNA factor may/will offest some of the reticence.

    ....................

Since your FB is what it is, PayPal may decide to place a 21-day hold
on your funds from this transaction. If the buyer leaves FB or the Signature
Confirmation shows delivery before 21-days, your money will be released.

Personally with low feedback, private auction, even with PSA/DNA I would be scared to death to bid. And I'm fearless. Better to consign to a well known dealer with a top notch reputation.
