Overstock.com

See they have coin auctions. Anyone ever pull the trigger and buy a coin from overstock.com.

  • I bought the worst slabbed coin I've ever seen on there. Was graded MS 66 by some home grader/slabber and I figured it couldn't be that bad right (normally its still MS)? Got it and it was cleaned with AU details.

No. I stay away from most auctions. Used to ebay, but pretty much stopped that too. (unless I need something - not coins). Auctions, with all the fees etc, have become too expensive. I stick to coin shows, private deals and the occasional 'find' at estate sales. Cheers, RickO

I bought one coin on there awhile ago. Easy, but I knew it was low grade and had some problems. But I also new it was neat variety I needed.
If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?
  • I'm not going to lie - I'm kind of tempted to bid on the UNSEARCHED rolls of FULL DATE buffalo nickels image I will never understand this concept of advertising - it doesn't make ANY sense. The coins obviously have to be searched to be determined full date in the first place image

Edit to add: My quick skimming of current auctions only displayed maybe 15 in PCGS & NGC plastic - with everything else either raw or in made up TPG plastic. IMO that tells me something there.
