Wiener Cathedral Medals

Do any of the TPGs slab Wiener Cathedral Medals?

I saw a few listed on dealers sites... listed as uncirculated. Since these were never circulated, is there such a thing as a circulated Wiener medal?

What are some of the condition issues I should look out for when purchasing these medals?

Any advice for a new collector of these medals?

There is one seller on Ebay that seems to only sell circulated examples.

  • I medal would not to have to actualy change hands to circulate. Most of the "circulation" wear on these medals comes from improper handling and storage.

I have never seen one in a TPG holder, but I dont have any reason to beleive NGC wouldn't do it. They have holders to fit about anything these days and do holder all sorts of exonumia.

That is awesome. The dealer on ebay has two, one has a distracting spot and the other may have a PVC spot on it. I have to keep my eye out for these.

I have wanted one of these for a long time, never seem to see one at coin shows. The specific one I seek is pictured in Flatwoods post. I would need to see this 'in hand' to evaluate the condition. Cheers, RickO

Apparently not an official Wiener Medal; several forum member were unable to identify it for me - acquired in a box of misc as part of a large estate purchase I made some years back.

A friend of mine collects these, and I've seen probably a dozen or so in hand. They're really, really nice. However, they're not going into a slab unless the slab is seriously oversized.
    Sincerely,

The things are huge and heavy. I don't think they'd fit in any normal type of slab... here the reverse of my latest...

And here's a portion of my only other one...

There's a heck of a market for these metals, at least for the nice ones...

They will fit in the large slabs ATS.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I think they are 59mm and about twice as thick as a silver dollar.

The folks at CRO often have had these medals. Give them a look.

Contact tmot99, as he makes custom holders. Not cheap, but they're customizable and nothing a TPG would give you, assuming for the moment that they could, would be cheap, anyway. The website is coinholdersonline.com.
