Ebay Final Value Fee

I saw post from coindeuce as follows ( this was in response to contursi's ebay listings )

""""""With the new feeBay fee structure starting next month, every one of these coins will have a flat $50 FV fee"""""

All non auction coins will be charged a $50 fee when sold now???

I think I'd quit buying just because I feel like eBay is screwing its sellers.

i think the new FVF is 9% with a cap of $50. this is for .99 cent starting auctions. other formats remain the same. if i`m wrong on this please correct. image

With the new fee structure coming, it looks to be 50 fee on all items selling at 560.00 or more give or take a few bucks. Unless you sign up with one of thier store programs, still going to be a lot higher than current.

Its a wonder to me how any of you still mess with ebay.

This is correct. Coins above $2k will actually be less than now. Hmmmmmmm, that won't help me much!

2k is about right, just a little over 1900 is break even from the current fee. I had been selling about 100 plus items a month, but very few were over 1900.00 bucks that would take advantage of the flat 9%.

I have a friend doing my eBay. I told him I didn't like eBay, but he's assured me there is still room to grow my business with this venue. I'm not certain of that, but I am certain of one thing.... I have a Chinese Dollar being returned from Australia with a claim that it's fake.

eBay got their fees. Pay Pal got paid. This guy will get reimbursed, the guy listing my stuff will get 15% of the sale price , the postal service will get paid twice and I will end up with a coin that I'm pretty sure isn't fake.
I'm glad it was under a hundy.

I'd love to but fact is if I need cash quick, its still easy.

BST doesn't work unless you get lucky and find a buyer looking for something you happen to have.
    Dealers....forget it here in Charleston.
Ebay....everything sells, every time, with 1 cent start, true auction.

eBay is still the way to go ... higher fees and all. They have real buyers who don't bad mouth your coins. You have cash in the bank in just a few days.

Local dealers ... forget 'em ... and their lowball greysheet offers.
    All glory is fleeting.

Thanks for the chart, Russ. I copied it to remind myself why I seldom list anything on eBay any longer! image

Your friend is either screwing you or doesn't know what he's doing. You should not be out the eBay and PayPal fees. Him keeping 15% of a now non-existent sale isn't exactly ethical either.

Even with the fee increase i still do better on ebay than selling at a show to a dealer or walking into a B@M. When it cost 95 dollars to sell a 100 coin on ebay i may decide to quit and sell to dealers.

Is the chart for auctions only or does it apply to BIN?

The fees were paid when the transaction was complete. The 15% is just added up over the month on total sales. A few bucks here or there isn't a screwing, it's an administrative nightmare. That's part of business and we will straighten that out. It's not unethical. We are friends.

How you guys work the cut for him is between the two of you but he will get the fees back from eBay and PayPal. He either doesn't know how to go about getting the fees back or does and is pocketing it.

I know many will not appreciate the plug here so I'll apologize first but if I don't tell you won't know. I've built an auction platiform equivalent to ebay with very small FVF and an option for a free custom store. Click the link and take a tour can't hurt.

I quit when I took over 3k in losses in one month due to claims that items were not received. All payed with paypal. I had to pay the cosigner, the items were not returned..........Now I sell on AuctionZip.com, no fees, 85K registered users and growing every day, over 1 million unique viewers per month. Some will make the arguement ebay has more buyers traffic, yes they do, but AuctionZip's traffic has continued to grow since they started, ebay is on a downward traffic trend.

Bottom line ebay will fetch crazy money, but you have to put up with crazy bidders and give them 10-15% (depending on how ya list)......I'm happy with fair market value and bidders that are pleasent to deal with.

That's nice, but eBay has 100 times that many users, and gets 100 times that in traffic. The fact is that there are no viable auction alternatives to eBay. There are plenty of alternatives, but on a relative basis they are dead.

And it seems to me that eBay is intent of killing their auction business to be more like Amazon. Sounds like a stupid business straegy to me, the auctions are what makes Ebay distinct from Amazon, and should continue to be profitable (under their current fee structure) with competent management. But maybe the underlying executive strategy is to get acquired by Amazon and cash in. All speculation, of course. image

I also read that many credit card companies will be raising their transaction fees because of the new regulations. Paypal will have to raise their fees or eat the difference which we all know will not happen.
