2010 Lincoln Shield Cents

I was just wondering how many people have found the new 2010 cents already. I guess luck is on my side once again because my dad now has a bag full of 2010 rolls. Ill be getting some probably within the next 7-10 days.

Looks like they have been released before the ceremony

Thats what I have heard. My dad so happens to live there and he bought a bag of rolls 2 weeks ago.

I was able to obtain a couple of rolls of them a couple of weeks ago.
For an entirely new reverse design on one of the most
popular series coin collected. there has been an almost eerie silence
about this coin and the revelations of the past month
regarding the early Puerto Rico releases While samples of this coin are flying
back and forth to third party graders. It is going to be fun to see when the
top pops on this bottle of champagne and the pictures and threads
start to fly. Or I may be completely wrong and many Lincoln collectors are kind
of burned out on the "New Design" excitement roller coaster of last year with
the Lincoln four different designs.
Personally I like the design, I would have preferred the Eagle reverse but the
Shield Cent design was my second pick.

I bought 3 rolls from a fellow in PR and paid $10 per roll.
I thought I was crazy.
Now they are selling $15-20
I sold some singles and gave a roll to a friend and spent some.
I have six singles left. Probably will spend them too.
I also sent 5 to NGC that are now in QC should have back this week.

so these rolls coming out of PR are certainly considered early releases since they have been released prior to the ceremony. i guess if you send them in you can get the special designation?

Yes, But you will pay the price. I called and they will do it but I need to send in a box. I'am not paying $17,500 to get them graded it was you send in 100 and they will grade them I'll pass on this one. Sell your rolls on the bay you'll do good.

Spotty Zincolns as usual. I wonder if the mint can acutally produce spotless Zincolns anymore...

I have 2 x 2010 P cents , i havnt seen nor heard of any D 2010 1c's anywhere as yet.

.....apparently not for the circulated cents. i think it is becoming a challenge for spotless coins showing up in proof and
mint sets lately too!!

You got some bad info! You can send in any amount as long as you pay the FDI label fee. NGC actually called me last week because I have 8 cents in for grading. They asked if I wanted FDI labels, I asked how much and told them yes. They were very friendly folks.

2010, only received 2 2009 cents so far in change.
Sure do run into a ton of 08's though. My bank can't even order the 2010 coinage.
I did receive a 64D quarter from the packy, that was cool.

I thought they are very much nicer in hand than photos suggest.I didnt really like the chosen design until i seen it , it is pretty cool.

I was going to take the 2 1/2 hour drive north to DC tomorrow to try and pick up a few rolls, but since the city is paralyzed with snow I'm guessing that would be a waste of time.

I'm not sure if they are even open tomorrow.

even if they are, I wonder if they will have them available. I asked the counter in the HQ last month and they did not think they would have them. Nothing was on their printed schedule which even has specific release dates for some stuff out to June or July.

Have you heard something or are you just going to take your chances?

I have 50 rolls coming my way. From my dad's connections it seems like they do not know when and if they will be receiving any 2010 nickels and dimes, so far none has been minted per Coin World so it may be March or April before they surface if anything. This will coincide with 09 nickels and dimes appearing last year around April/May. He is just starting to receive D minted 09 quarters (unusual for a location that receives "P" almost exclusively) so it is very much possible that they will receive 09 "D" minted nickels and dimes. He will find out tomorrow what they will be getting so Ill post the report once i hear from him

Couldn't they have made the initials on the back smaller / more subtle? If folks found the "VDB" to be too annoying, how did that LB and JFM get through? (and two sets of initials? come on.)

coinnews.net reports: "The coin will be issued for circulation in quantities to meet the demands of commerce. Numismatic proof and uncirculated versions will be included in the United States Mint’s annual product offerings for collectors. The coin will also be available for sale in two-roll sets this spring."
