Very Expensive Modern PR70DCAM Spot Review

If I send in a very expensive modern PR70DCAM for spot review and PCGS regrades the coin at PR69DCAM... what is PCGSs remedy? Do they pay the delta between the new grade and the 70?

They usually give you the coin back with a offer near or at price guide value.. But again, I don't speak for PCGS and their policys.. I have had a few over the years work out this way..
P.S. This has been the case on Modern Silver coins for me...
- The downgraded coin and the difference in $
- A payment for the value of the coin

I'd rather take the third option... a replacement coin!

Makes me wonder when this type of coin will fall under the following new policy. With copper being used in most coins, is there a way to prevent coins from turning into undesireable collectables?
We are also making two important changes to the PCGS Grading Guarantee effective for PCGS graded world coins and copper coins graded or sold after January 1, 2010. For world coins (i.e. non-U.S. coins), we will have a limit on our guarantee of $10,000 per coin. And for Chinese coins, we will have a limit on our guarantee of $1,000 per coin.
We've also made a change in how we handle the guarantee of color for copper coins. The fact is that color for copper can change depending upon where a coin is stored. The villain is humidity, and if you have mint red copper coins stored in Hawaii or Florida, for example, there's a good chance that the environmental factors can alter the color of the coins. This is obviously beyond our control so consequently we will not be guaranteeing the color of cooper coins graded or sold after January 1, 2010.

I know what you mean about a replacement coin. If the coins had been top pops with no pop availability I would have been perturbed. They were top pops but I was fortunate to be able to replace the coins.

A third option is to remove the spots.
My cc was just charged with return shipping for my bloody Gold Buff.
I have not heard anything from PCGS yet.
<< <i>You're reading too much into it Leo. >>
Not really. I have had several Jefferson nickels develope spots, including carbon spots, in their holders, mostly ANACS. They're likely from improper cleanings after they're pulled from rolls, coin folders etc. Coins that had overtoned are cleaned, certified and sold only to develope problems weeks, months later. Because there in no surefire way of preventing such meanders, I have never exercised ANACS grade guarantee.

I assumed you sent the gold buff in for review........if that is the case. they will charge your cc at the beginning and then credit the shipping fee back once the outcome has been determined.

Yes, submitted at the FUN show.
Cool, Thanks SNMAN.
Very nice, and I am very happy.
Thanks PCGS.
<< <i>Received an email from PCGS, they will buy it outright or reholder as a PR69DCAM and pay the difference.

It's comments like this that prompted me to join PCGS and start a Registry set a few years back.
