Bill's (LSUTigers1973) Wilt is Not Authentic... But Let's Move On...

Though it was not a shocker to anyone who follows NBA Autographs, Bill's (LSUTigers1973) Wilt Chamberlain was deemed not genuine by PSA/DNA Quick Opinion.
That being said after re-considering the whole scenario it probably could have been handled in a different manner via PM and only resorting to the public tarring if no redress was made.
In reality I threw down the white glove because I am in the market for a Wilt to finish up my NBA 50 greatest collection (down to my last 5) and when I saw this "deal" I got excited until I saw it was a fake and then was being sold by a board member.
I would suggest Bill perform some type of public disembowment for that fake Wilt, but that will be his decision, and whether or not he will pull the auction if eBay does not do it for him.
For those of you who tried to pile on and distract the situation, I ask you what were your true motives? This hobby needs to stay above the table whenever possible, as there are too many scam artists out there. Through PMs, etc., I believe Bill is not a fan of NBA autographs and made a honest mistake.
Let's move on.
My wife is going in for inducement today as she is overdue with our next child, so I will be away from the boards for a couple days, so there will be no Tuesday free-for-all here.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

<< <i>Steve it looks like Bill is selling this Chamberlain auto on Ebay and this guy wants one so he PSA DNA it and they said fake. >>
It's a little more complicated than that. Long story somewhat short: DrJ called out Bill, saying they should hold off the group sub without discussing his concerns with Bill first. Bill gave a reasonable explanation, offered a quick opinion, and regardless of the results, would donate money to one of my charities.
This wasn't good enough for DrJ, so he decided to make it rain on the interwebs with a $100 bill and create another thread calling out Bill for some 89 Griffeys he was selling.
As for DrJ's most recent post:

That's a half reared apology if I've ever seen one but who am I to judge. My "true motives" were CLEARLY written in the thread I provided above. You were clearly out of line and could have easily avoided it with a simple PM to start. However, YOUR "true motives" should be the ones questioned. Trying to discredit an established, generous, and respected member for your own entertainment.
While no one knows how it plays out going forward, I still wish you the best with your newborn.
This thread was not necessary and will probably get locked up or poofed. All you had to do is PM Bill and let him know the results of the PSA quick opinion. From there its up to Bill to remove the listing and up to Ebay to enforce the removal if it doesn't get done.
In my opinion Bill doesn't owe you or the board anything...No apology or disembowment. Actually you went after a board member without giving him the chance to rectify or look into the situation.
Lastly, I think your reputation has taken a big hit after what transpired yesterday, and what you have started this morning. I sincerely wish you the best and please realize you, your wife, and your baby have my prayers on a safe and speedy delivery. Please let us know when you get back from the hospital.
Sincerely,
brian

"Force field" = refers to a tactical use of a symbol or action in order to innoculate the presenter from criticism and gain favor/sympathy from the sheeple. In extreme cases, even induces feelings of guilt.
IOW, informing us of your good news does not excuse your conduct yesterday.

<< <i>Wow, I've seen the God "force field" employed before (McGwire did that yesterday) and the patriotism "force field" used extensively, and politicians use the "think of our children" force field frequently, but I've not seen the "my wife is having a baby" force field until now. Interesting and innovative.
