Government is the great fiction through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else. - Bastiat
The CTA busses take them, the news guy on the corner takes them and they make great tip money.

<< <i>but the mint says they told credit card companies to treat them as a cash advance. that would mean cash advance fees and interest where applicable. >>
My last box that arrived Wed was charged to my AMEX as a regular charge..

I am not sure that the Mint has the ability to alter the terms of a credit card purchase, especially without disclosing it to the buyer.
It would seem as if, as long as you are "agreeing" not to just return the coins immediately to the banks, the handling by the charge card companies should remain unchanged. But it would be nice to know. Is there a contact at Discover or the Mint that can respond intelligently on this issue?
In the meantime, I checked the Mint's website a few minutes ago, and the 2010 Native American Direct Ship is not yet listed. Does it go on at noon or something? Or is there a special link to it someone can direct me to?
Thanks!

"do not call"
this tips people at the companies off to the deal. (then they make changes to cut off the deal)
you'll have to find another discover card user to ask.
My chase card bill just came and $500 worth charged just before the mint posted the message on their site showed up as a regular charge

<< <i>I would be buy the 2000 not the 2001. I just bought the $250 2010 Native American Rolls. I used Discover. Will let you know how it comes through as a regular purchase or cash advance. Do you think the banks will order the 2010s. Seems like they avoid ordering these dollar coins because no one wants them. >>
My last trip to a local branch, about 2 weeks ago, I asked for any new coins (quarters, cents, etc). They said the only 2009 ones they had were the native american dollars....already had theirs
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Box of 20
Ordered about 3 hours ago and they were "available for shipping on 1/11/10"

my last month's CC statement came up as normal - not cash advance !!!
maybe all the talk is for airline miles ???
But almost everywhere I spend them, they go straight to the bank anyway.
These are novelties. I have enough to last me the rest of my life. I suspect the government does too.

From the few tellers that I've spoken with, I think this is correct.
The tellers are afraid to even ask about giving $1 coins instead of bills.
However, I did get some george washingtons a long time ago where a box not only had some rolls with all $25 of P and some rolls with all $25 of D both in the same box, but one roll even had both mint marks in the same roll. (maybe $10 of one and $15 of the other)
That has happened to me only once out of dozens of boxes. The rest have been boxes of single mint marks.
You can order another 2 boxes later. I've done it. But I do not know the time required between orders. I'd imagine if people start using this to circumvent the "red flags" that catch the frequent fliers, then the "place another order later" plan may disappear.
Bought a box of $250 of the 2009 coins last year and they were fun to spend/giveaway. Figured I'd get a box of the 2010s since I'm getting bored just spending Ike Dollars and Kennedy Halves lately

Overall, it's pretty easy to put these into circulation, but I've discovered that the biggest problem has not been the recipient. The biggest problem is actually me. I am just not accustomed to using dollar coins. It's worth a try, however. Buy a couple of boxes and put them into circulation.
Besides the Sac is really a very nice coin! Putting these coins in circulation might inspire a new group of collectors.
I also notice the language regarding "cash advance" has been removed from the page.
The language for "please explain why you need more than 20 boxes" has been removed from the 2010 box page. The 2010 box page now indicates there is a 20 box "household limit" as opposed to an "order limit" that the others have.
<< <i>Just went through 1000 of the 09's, no errors. They just don't make 'em like they used to. >>
Any gems, or are they all beat up?
No "tray" - - just a tight smaller box with the 10 rolls enclosed in a much larger (unnecessary?) box.
One suggestion I'd make is that, since the mintmark is also on the side of the coin along with the date, why don't they print the mintmark along with the info on the paper wrapper as well?
I'm assuming they're all 1 mint vs mixed rolls or mints mixed WITHIN a roll.... am I mistaken?
Thanks!
