How does PCGS and NGC grading compare on the Gold Buffs?

Since a set of NGC PR-70s just sold for $8,000 I thought that it might be useful to know how the big 2 grading services compare in this series.
Has anyone seen enough of these coins in graded form to be able to offer an opinion?

1. No 70 from either TPG unless coin was submitted in mint capsule.
2. PCGS is tougher with 70s on new, mint products submitted in original mint capsules.
Again, this is just my personal opinion and it is based on my own submission of over 500 new gold and silver US mint products this year. Doesn't directly answer your question but maybe it does when you consider most gold buffs are submitted in the original mint capsule or sealed mylar.

No experience with cross overs or upgrades, comment based strictly on my experience with mint capsules and flips.

Thanks, Jerry. In Modern Bullion, I tend to categorize NGC-70 along with PCGS-69 for both uncs and proofs although I'm sure that a few superior coins are in the mix as NGC-70s. The pricing does seem to tell the story, but I saw this $8,000 auction for NGC and I thought, "whoa, what's the deal?" I attribute an isolated auction like this one to the "inefficient market" phenomenon. Now if it happens again, we'll see.

RickO, have you been in denial for the whole 24 years of the Modern Bullion Series? Or is it simply an MS-69/MS-70 thing? Or plastic in general? There is help available!
