After exactly eleven months, it has FINALLY happened.....
As I write these words, I have just arrived back at my desk with my lunch, because The Man does not even allow us to take time to eat a meal in the cafeteria. I am enjoying my turkey with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and jalepenos on a whole wheat wrap. I dutifully paid the amount due, and received 54 cents in change.
Upon looking at my change, I noticed a bright and shiny cent. My heart beat faster as I took a closer look to see if after eleven long months, IT had finally happened.
I am happy to report that I received one of the new 2009 Lincoln cents in change! It is the one where Lincoln is pointing at the IL capitol building(?).
I would net grade the coin as a 62 due to the excessive numbers of spots on the obverse, which can be seen without the aid of a glass. The reverse, however, is choice uncirculated with full mint luster. A tiny rim nick appears just above the "F" in "OF", and can be used as a pedigree identifier, but does not detract.
Has anyone else gone 11 months without getting one of these seemingly excessively rare coins in circulation?

The name is LEE!
I think I picked one up on the floor of the bathroom in the hospital and dutifully reported it here a few months ago.
Hoard the keys.

I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.

One of my staff is departing for Amsterdam as we speak. Perhaps I will ask that he pick up some.

Are you trying to get some info to flip it through BST or eBay?
I haven't found any of the new coins so far, but my wife found 2 log cabin cents.
No, I haven't received a single 2009 penny in change yet.

<< <i>I though you wher going to say I found a 2009-D Nickel or Dime .
What's the big deal? I found one of each in my mint set.
Now if I could only get rid of that pesky satin finish . . .

For a second there I thought you had found one of those incredibly rare Lincoln cents where an image of President Kennedy is staring up at President Lincoln.

Getting?
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!

WOW! what a lucky find! This ranks right up there with finding a gem roll of $4 Stellas (coiled hair) in an old dresser I got @ a garage, er--estate sale.

I see you have already prepared the description for the Stack's Auction!
Collecting:
Conder tokens
19th & 20th Century coins from Great Britain and the Realm
Still no 2009 cents yet but have amassed a snapple bottle full of wheat cents.Go figure
But I'm happiest about getting the Oklahoma D quarter today that I needed to finish my circ set of P+D State Quarters
Of course that took about 900 + cash transactions without using exact change
Whatever you are, be a good one. ---- Abraham Lincoln
It is clear what you must do. Get it slabbed, pedigreed as a "Longacre Discovery Specimen," and put it in Airplanenut's next charity auction. I can't think of any better way to put a stop to this silliness.

The obverse is well struck, as expected, with a fair number of black specks on the lower portion of the coin, none of which are especially distracting. A tiny pin scratch hails at 2 o'clock. The reverse contains a number of small circulation marks, which are a testament to the originality of this coin and the fact that it was used in circulation. Full mint bloom remains, and the coin is a pleasing orange red color.
Perhaps if I go to the cafeteria tomorrow and Thursday and order the same sandwich, I will end up with the rest of the collection.

Congrats. I was away last week and didn't have my laptop with me. I missed announcement of this important event.
Honestly, I thought you were going to say The Man fired you, or you moved to greener pastures...
