Question regarding coins struck on incorrect planchet

If a quarter was struck on a dime planchet for example. Is there still enough material to keep the dies for clashing?

Good question! I'd say they wouldn't clash. The dime planchet is thick enough to stop the relief elements on the dies from touching eachother.

Most likely enough material to prevent transfer of images.

Does anyone know the story regarding that quarter struck on the dime planchet? Was it found in a dime roll or bag? Inquiring minds want to know. Cheers, RickO

It wouldn't fit in a dime roll. Probably mixed in a quarter bag or roll since it was struck with quarter dies.
