But, I only know great dealers and I have never had less then a 100% positive experience with one........I'm adding Dave Wnuck and Ray and Phil Hinkelman to the list.

Just received my first CRO package and I'm thrilled with the item and the TOTAL experience.

My other personal favorites include Evan Gale, Bonnie Sabel, George Huang and Brad Barnett.

Come to think of it I have made a lot of coin collector friends as well. People I truly like and count as friends.............kumbia..........He's a Cinderella boy. Tears in his eyes.......Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga..............MJ image

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

That's because you are an educated shopper.
There is no "AT" or "NT". We only have "market acceptable" or "not market acceptable.

Jerk dealers and dealers who would be better off dead definitely do exist, but the overwhelming majority of dealers are fine to work with.

There are always people who find themselves chronically involved with negative experiences with dealers. While legitimate problems and disagreements do occur, those people should consider reevaluating their own attitudes before interacting with others again.

As with anything there are good dealers and bad ones; good collectors and bad ones. The things that define good and bad might differ between you and another collector, but there are also behaviors and attitudes that place people on their respective categories in the more general sense.

The dealers seem to sort themselves out fairly easily. It can be difficult to separate collectors into “good” and all the rest. Honesty, personal integrity, trust, knowledge, open-mindedness come to mind as solid traits.

Just keep making selections that are good for you and for your collecting interests, and enjoy the hobby and history of numismatics.

All of them have the following traits so far.

    1) easy to work with
    2) knowledgeable
    3) have similar eyes to my own
    4) honest
    5) great communicational skills
    6) realize it's a two way street
    7) are all people I could be friends with even if I didn't collect coins

FYI- Wei, next year you are invited for Thanksgiving Dinner if you venture back to Michigan for the Dearborn Show. I know it must suck to be on the road over Thanksgiving.

I guess it depends where one starts too. The OP is listing national level dealers. When I started at the B&M level in the 1970's there were about a dozen shops in my immediate area. Of those I'd say at most 2 weren't try to rip me off every time I walked in. And half of them thought they were giving good deals and honest service but were oblivious to the cleaned and damaged coins they were selling to customers.

I am very glad you have had such positive experiences... please do not judge all dealers by the standards you have listed. There are crooks out there..... Cheers, RickO

You are not naive...you are fortunate and smart.

Fortunate that you found these great dealers before you found any bad ones...and smart to keep doing business with them.

The first time I bought a coin from CRO was about 4 years ago. It was on a whim...I didn't know who they were. I've been a regular and very satisfied customer of theirs ever since.
