Help me understand how to deal with an Ebay case.

ldhairldhair Posts: 7,354 ✭✭✭✭✭
Lets say you spend a few bucks on a coin item and never receive it.
If I understand things the case can be filed with Ebay or Paypal.
Is it really the same process? If I lost with Ebay can I file it again with Paypal.
Just wanting to understand the process.

eBay will refer you to Paypal unless there is another underlying issue, such as phony seller's registration info.

Just went through a case of non delivery last month. You file a no delivery dispute with Paypal to get your money back.

Never knew you had a choice where to file a case. I went with Ebay and lost.
In two days I'll find out why I lost.
Thought it was a simple deal because I never received it.

Did the seller have delivery confirmation saying it was delivered? (to someone, not necessarily you)

What did the seller say when you contacted him about the shipment?

No delivery confirmation or insurance was used and not worth the cost to do so.
The seller told me it was my problem because it was mailed and I did not request conformation or insurance.
I was a little shocked I lost this case. Wonder if I would have had better luck filing the case with Paypal.

  • File with Paypal you will have your money returned within 48 hours.

  • Delivery conformation and insurance protect the seller. The buyer does not need them. All you need is the item you bought delivered to you. As you did not receive it, file with paypal. I am surprised the ebay claim did not go directly to paypal. Good luck!

Your dispute can only be filed with PayPal, if you paid using PayPal.

Happened to me not long ago, I called eBay and they refunded my money while I was on the phone after calling the seller on the other line.

That must be why I lost the case. I'm really glad it was not a large purchase.
