New gold Indian cent discovered! 1905

Heritage's FUN Auction just posted a newly discovered 1905 Indian cent in gold.
I just sent my 1890-1909 Attribution Guide to the printer. Just the way things happen, as soon as I finish it, a new discovery is made.
I guess that's why they have 2nd printings. I did get the image of the coin for the cover of the next Longacre's Ledger though.

Any word on where the coin was hiding for the past 104 years? That would be interesting to know as well.
Edited to add: Congrats on your attribution book EagleEye! Look forward to getting my copy soon!

from and has been hiding all this time. what is the story of where
it came from?
If this one was hidden for the past 104 years... I guess there is still a small chance an 1908 or 1909 San Francisco gold Indian Cent shows up someday

I found this quote to be quite interesting:
i]1907. Listed in the Judd pattern book, and in Donald Taxay's Catalogue and Encyclopedia [of] U.S. Coins. The 1907 gold Indian cent is currently unlocated.
So if no one has it or it "cannot be located" does it in fact exist? Oooh, the drama!

Heritage has removed the photo from your link, can you post the photo?

It's reputed to be the only Lincoln struck in gold, and Sol Taylor reports it last sold for $30,000 sometime after 1966. I don't know much more about it.
Anyone know who currently owns it, and what it might go for if auctioned off today?
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
<< <i>Anyone have a photo of the 1915 Lincoln cent struck on a gold planchet intended for the $2-1/2 dollar Pan Pacific gold piece?
>>
Sounds cool! Would like to see a pic of that too!! So would that be a 1915-S then???

If those Chinese counterfeiters are taking notes, now we'll soon see everything struck in gold. 1876-CC Trade dollars on a $20 gold piece, for example.

Oh man, now that would be cool
...but in a really disturbing sort of way
I'm sure you have studied the various die pairings used in 1905, does this piece carry the die markers of a known set of dies used?

<< <i>With Heritage indicating most past sales at this level around $170, I think I'll make a play for this fine specimen. >>
Ah, I knew there was a reason I was reading this thread (other than the fact that this is a very cool coin which I'd love to see.
