A little late for memorial day but in honor of BRdude

Most of the more established members of this forum remember hearing about our very own BRdude "Kory" losing his son on September 17th of 2008.

A brief summary goes something like this:

On 17 SEP 2008, a CH-47 "Chinook" helicopter from the 2-149th Aviation Regiment went down in southern Iraq killing all 7 on board: CPT Robert Vallejo II, CW3 Brady Rudolf, CW2 Corry Edwards, SGM Julio Ordonez, SSG Luke Mason, SGT Dan Eshbaugh, and image CPL Mikey Thompson image .

Here is a great thread started by TomB on the one year anniversary of the tragedy:

Cpl. Michael Eyre Thompson

The reason I started this thread was due to a simple request by Kory...a man I am honored to call my friend although we have never met in person....

On the one year anniversay of the crash a singer named Radney Foster played a special song he wrote in honor of the crew of Red River 44 at the ceremony in Grand Prairie texas. The song has since been recorded with a video and it has been played on CMT and GAC (both country music TV stations). The significance of this video is not only the fact that it in part honors Kory's son but that the memorial for Kory's son and all of the others lost while defending our freedom is featured in this video and you can actually see the name CPL Michael E Thompson while watching.

I took the liberty of capturing the image (below) just in case anyone misses it in the video:

Here is a link to the video on Youtube for those that would like to see it:

Angel Flight - Radney Foster

In the video you can also see Radney pick up a set of dog tags and read the name, this is a set that Kory left at the memorial himself so it has an even more special meaning to me when watching the video as it puts an even more human side to something so tragic.

I know this thread is OT, but I would urge the moderators to let this thread stay so that the members of this forum can wish Kory well and celebrate his sons life and ultimately his sacrfice through watching this video. I think I have a proven track record over the past 9 years of only posting threads about coins so hopefully you will give me some leeway this one time for a very good cause.
