His price is under the prices realized for recent ebay sales (not even including MS-70s). Based on recently-released data, this coin is not the key for the $10 Plats although it is (or will become) fairly "scarce" and appears to be the semi-key.

Platinum is currently showing the same strength as gold, so there is no telling where these will ultimately be priced. In this rising price environment for platinum, it doesn't look like too a bad deal, imo.

Platinum is now over $1425/ounce, so the asking price is about 2.6x spot for 2% of the reported production.

Gecko's asking price for 20 chinese silver pandas was $800 on BST in July, when silver was $13.50/ounce. BST image

The difference of course is that these coins were made last year, but hey, if you feel that recently made platinum circles are worth $3,700/oz, knock yourself out!

Gecko here's a hint for you. If you don't know the market then don't show your ignorance about pricing these strictly on the value of the underlying metal.

You obviously know the Chinese panda market which is why you are backing up your asking price at the time the underlying metal was just over half of what you were asking. Most people like myself would think you were ridiculously expensive but most would have the common courtesy and sense to refrain from publicly saying so.

BTW his asking price for these is darn reasonable, and I can confidently say that as I DO know this market.
