Take a look at the image in the thread I just TTT'd. The serifs seem to be missing on the D on the one you show.

I believe it is the wear that gives it that appearance, it is worn or 'compressed' to some extent. I may be missing something, but looking at pictures in my coin books, it looks genuine. Cheers, RickO

Take a look at the mintmark of this AG3 specimen. Despite the wear, the serifs are still present. The example you show lacks the serifs.

Here is an image of three that I have owned once. The AG and VG both show serifs.

Wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

    That means, it's fake!

here are all 4 mm positions for the 16-D dime, it has to look like one of them to be real (The central image was inserted as part of a discussion, I do not know if that coin was genuine or not):

Here is an image of the coin in the center of the image Kaz posted.

It was in an ANACS G6 at the time of the image. It upgraded to VG8 at PCGS.

    Here's a 16D in a PCGS G04 slab.
As others have pointed out, the serifs on the D are present even in well circulated condition.
    Hope this is helpful,

How does one add a "D" to a barely G-4 reverse?

I agree with the majority. The serifs should be present regardless of wear. Your's shows nothing in the way of a serif. Fake is my call.

The seller grades it very good as well. I definitely need to get my pcgs g6 regraded, then.image
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
