Submitted for your approval: the Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set will be no big deal

For those of you that bough multiples witha mind toward flipping them, I recommend that you do so quickly because the time will come - and that right soon - when the premium these trade for will be negligible to the point of futility. On what evidence do I base this conclusion? I ordered a LCaC set FOUR full days after the mint released them and I received it Saturday. I watched people pay as much as $165 for these on this forum (I didn't even bother to check the insanity on eBay) before I decided to order one from the mint for less than $60. Still, I got it. It is in hand.
Now, I realize that I'm probably pretty lucky. Enough credit cards had errors in processing that I got bumped up the list far enough to actually get one of these sets direct. My point is that I think it's a little crazy to pay a huge premium for a set when the mint hasn't even shipped all of them yet. What do you think?

Thats exactly right , i cant see how recieving one late is going to affect anything.People are and have been just plucking numbers out of thin air as to what they might be worth.Time will tell.

In all honesty, I think that this set will sell for less than issue in short order because current sales have solely been based upon the 50,000 production limitations and the hype that folks have associated with that limitation. Had there been something truely unique, such as a medal or special coin then the hype would have some validity but since there isn't, folks are going to figure it out and simply not pay a premium.

You know that you can take the capsule out and put it back any way you want, right? Just push on the bottom of the capsule.

I don't agree. I have 5 lincoln proof dollars as well as 6 sets of lincoln 2009 proofs 4 to a lens. I bought the chronicles set just because Iiked it. It's not always about the money.
In this case, who cares if the price drops to zero, I still like it. I'll sell the individual items I have.....I prefer to keep the Chroncile set. To each their own.

2005 - 2006 ...this would be a hot item just like the 20th Anniv Gold and Silver sets..2009 ??? not likely

No... there's 50,000 pieces of packaging made...
The problem with this set is that no coin in that set is unique to that set... There's already what, 150,000 other Proof Lincoln Dollars out there? There's how many Proof Cent sets that have been sold? The premium in that set... is for the packaging...

Do this. Press down on the bottom of the coin capsule at a location of 6:00. The top of the capsule will rise up and you can take the capsule out to look at the reverse of the coin. On the silver dollar, you might have to press a little harder to get the same result.

I dunno, lots of people said the same about the 8-8-08 Double Prosperity Set and I saw one on Ebay just yesterday going fer $2000, I think I paid about $1025 from the Mint?
With the Mint it's all about the packaging....

Oh yeah.The first sets to make it to Ebay sold for over $200.00.A few went for $250.00.A week later they were selling for $160-$175.Today,they aren't breaking $150. I think there may be another surge after the sets stop shipping from the mint.Then,I think they will settle into the $100-$120 range.Mine just arrived Saturday.Some are still arriving.

I wouldn't bet money on this with the sheer number of Lincoln collectors out there, 50k sets is nothing.
