He is either totally clueless or a crook...even just by reading his description.
Since he says right in his description that the picture isn't his, it should be removed, I would hope, quickly by ebay.

Todd and I both just reported him. Let's see how long Ebay takes to remove the listing.

Minor difference? The coin he is selling is a 1903, the picture is a 1901, lol!
ok
not at all what was described in ad. you don't get the one in the picture!!
ad said mint, very fine on reverse, fine on obverse at best, and taped down
Dissapointed the coin received was not the one pictured.
Refund made without problem - thanks
Those are all warning flags and tells me the items are deceptive at a min.

Loser: "i got thiss off of google images"
Then I sent him this message:
Me: "It's not even the same year as the coin you are "selling" you big loser!"
Loser: "well i cant take a pitucre off this coin because i dont get the right lighting to show the toned part off it because im not rich and dont afford expensive cmaeras and id didnt steal your picture if it is posted on google images because therefore you post it to the world and any one can use it under law and im not a big loser for trying my best this is so stupid of you to say that"

His response:

He is an idiot, he is basically saying as long as it is on google images, it is okay to take it and use it as your own. He is crazy.
Everybody, report him.
Hope e-bay puts the screws to him.

I believe I've seen that coin before. It was on a good friend of mine's website. Please do not use photos that you do not actually have the rights to, as you are tricking people, that look at your auction. If you can't take photos of your coin, then don't include photos.
He must be going crazy right about now.

<< <i>did you opt out of the generic photo deal that ebay has? I didn't so people are now free to use mine if they are in the generic photo pile (whatever they call it) But mine all have "Carlsbad Eagle Trader"on them so if he uses my photo he is advertising for me. --Jerry >>
I do not sell on Ebay, so I never posted this photo on Ebay. It came from either my website or when I posted it on the forum.
The Penny Lady®
Well, I just put him on my blocked list. Not
that I would likely buy anything from this
guy after seeing this and his feedback, but
I don't think I would want him buying from
me either.

The image was posted on Cointalk, and Google apparently picked it up form there...

OK. So I Use google images quite a bit to look things up and it just has basicly links to websites. So to say he got it from google images is just saying, "I found your website through google images and got it there." --Jerry
You'd think he would've changed his imaging strategy after the negs:

BTW- the pic in both auctions is the same.

I do believe ebay will only pull listing only if photo or description has been lifted from an earlier ebay listing. Since this is not the case, good chance there is no ebay violation. Unethical? YES.

Nope this loser knows exactly what he is doing, and if it were me, I would give him one message of being nice, and if he came back being a smart ass or said something stupid, I would rip him apart.
This guy is trying to scam people into thinking it is the coin pictured, most snipers, who at last second don't really read what is in the auction. It is deceitful and wrong. The "Oh I can't afford a good camera" is bull#$%@, my camera is crap, and my photos look fantastic.
Overall this guy is just another eBay loser, trying to make a quick buck without knowing the basics of coins, or even selling.

I have had a lot of seller's lift my photos and most of them (when politely emailed) apologized and removed my photo. What really pizzes me off is when a seller will use my active photo to undercut my BIN price while my listing is active.

Yep, photos have been changed, and he even left all of us a little message on his auction!
"hope everyone is happy now!"
LOL!

I don't think so, since I only called him a loser to "his face" ONE time - and I thought that was being kind considering he ignored my request to remove my photo from his auction.
And thanks everyone for "helping" get this guy to finally remove my photo, especially you Tmoney (you're my new BFF)!

I feel that I must chime in as well Charmy. While I understand your frustration, I don't think that the name calling is necessary or the higher way!
We've never met but, from what I've read of your other posts, you seem above that. Just my not so humble opinion.

Tmoney, aren't you are a YN? I'd hope to see a bit more maturity from you based on your post. I've been involved with coins for 35 years and a dealer for 20 and never heard this type of language from a young numismatist. What a shame!

Ocho, I appreciate your reminding us to be more professional, and I know you are correct in that I personally could have been a little more "high road" in my comments to the seller, which I initially was. And yes, I was frustrated that he was ignoring my request to remove my photo, so by calling him a loser I was hoping to get his attention - sure it was juvenile and probably unnecessary, but to be honest, I felt a little better knowing it got his attention (even though it took all the pressure from this forum to finally get him to remove the photo).
And sometimes people like this need a little knuckle thwacking to get their attention, especially people who try to get away with scamming or taking advantage of others like this guy has admittedly been doing. So if any of you feel I shouldn't have stooped to calling him a loser, I understand, but I don't feel my comment really necessitates any more "shame on you" finger-wagging - at me or Tmoney.

Nothing to be ashamed of my friend. You don't take what isn't yours, and if it takes a YN to teach you that listen, you are one sick person. You and I both know that seller knew what he was doing, why should I have sympathy for him, or be nice? He is a scammer plain and simple. My age has nothing to do with what I said, if you can't handle the truth, tough. Your feelings hurt, tough. The guy had a motive of at least scamming somebody or getting a couple high bids at the end, by snipers. I messaged him, reported his auction, and gave my opinions here, you don't agree with my opinion, or don't like what I said, or feel you need to discuss it further with me, please PM me.

im sorry bob.. i changed it if you noticed

I think the guy/gal just does not know the rules or has any clue about using someone else's picture. Just
a mistake that was stupid and now he/she apologizes. I told him that I don't own the coin or the pic. So,
Todd and Penny Lady here's his apology.

No, it said the colors were similar.

I don't know if we know enough about this fellow to call him a crook, he says it isn't his coin. I believe he just isn't very bright and we shouldn't hold that against him. Lets save our venom for those more deserving.

Doesn't make sense to me

Oh My!
No one mentioned an obsession but threatening to "rip him apart" hardly seems like something a 14 years old would be capable of accomplishing other than continuing to extoll your grievance against him for responding to your query with a "Smart ass" or stupid answer. Therefore, you must have been mimicking (i.e. imitating) some of the "tough guy" attitudes which occasionally get displayed here on the forums.
Yes. Those Big Boys. You know, the ones with the "super human typing fingers" capable of reaching through computer moniters to "rip him apart"?
