42/41 Mercury dime

Does anyone have a picture of one of these ? Are they easily identifiable ? I just hit the mother load a full roll of 1940 1941 and 1942 mercury dimes that I just picked up at my bank to go through

Nice pick up...the 42/41 is very easy to identify, you can pretty much see it from space:

The 42/41-D is much tougher...I suggest looking at a Red Book or some other reference for quality pics of that coin. Good luck!

Easiest way to spot the D mint coin is that the 4 is strongly doubled.

you hit a motherload by find 90% silver at the bank! You will get a you suck award if you find some 42/1!!

Doh, thanks for posting the picture of the 42/1, wow its amazing and easy to see the overdate!!!

Does anyone know price range for these? I'd love to own one!

By the way, they are pretty hard to find aren't they??? The local B&M has a bunch of mercs in a tupperware and is selling it as 90%. I've gone through some and never seen a 42/1, should I keep looking or give up as they are fairly rare to find????

There are some real oddities in the Merc Dime series that a die variety weenie will sort through someday.
Here is a 42 Merc that made me look twice when I looked at it. It has what looks to be an impression
of the bottom of a number 1 under the bar of the 2, but in a weird place as well as some interesting chatter
around the number 4.
Interesting coins.

Mercury Dimes are notorious for die distortion near the rims. People start seeing ghosts and other apparitions when the dies become worn.

From what I can tell I do not have any 42/41 dimes but they are all in very nice condition
