(: Colonials :)

My collection is coming along nicely... another aspect i love about these is that you can have coins ranging from VF to UNC and they all just "fit" together wonderfully.... as seen in this Poster View.

AND BY THE WAY... I would like to give many kudos to John Agre at CRO for all of his assistance building this stellar set with much needed guidance and history.
I feel very fortunate to have had such good people to deal with right from the get go.

    As are the other 22!

I wonder if I can put SpaceMonkey on retainer so I can take advantage of his eye for nice coins...

Truly, I meant no ill will toward the other coins. As an apology, you may pick any coin from my collection and keep an image of it.image

    SpaceMonkey;
The quality of the coins is simply remarkable. I assume the Higley piece is a restrike (?). Also, are all the coins raw, or are some or all in slabs?image

wow, Thank you all for you kind comments.

What is amazing to me is that this entire set in it's current form still costs much much less than some single federal rarities.
and many of these coins are truly rare as well with many only having a handful still around and even less when originality
and eye appeal are taken into consideration. so you get a whole lot of bang for the numismatic buck in my humble opinion.

I have added expanded versions of each coin to the first post for a little history on each coin... still need to add info to some.
(please visit my web site for reference sources)

and coinut1799... all are slabed PCGS (except the Higley which is in a custom holder, and is a Bolen Copy ca. 1860's with perhaps 12 known)

    Quite a stunning collection!

For completeness the Washington Small Eagle is also catalogued by Dalton & Hamer (D&H) as Middlesex #1050 in their book The Provincial Token-Coinage Of The 18th Century. The token comes in 3 different edge varieties:
    1050: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA . X .
1050a: PAYABLE AT THE WAREHOUSE OF THOS. WORSNICK & SONS . X .
1050b: PAYABLE IN MACCLESFIELD LIVERPOOL OR CONGLETON
The first edge variety is listed as scarce, the other 2 as extremely rare.

The Kentucky token is catalogued by D&H as Lancashire Lancaster #59. There are 6 edge varieties listed for this token:
59: PAYABLE IN LANCASTER LONDON OR BRISTOL
59a: AN ASYLUM FOR THE OPPRESS'D OF ALL NATIONS
    59b: Milled
    59c: Plain
59d: PAYABLE AT I FIELDINGS MANCHESTER
    59e: Engrailed
59 is common, 59a&b are very rare, 59c is scarce and 59d&e are extremely rare

The Talbot, Allun & Lee obverse was muled with several other Conder token dies to interesting and rare mules.
