is it just me or are some great board members disappearing???>>>>....

joebb21joebb21 Posts: 4,806 ✭✭✭✭✭

theres been many....

Ryk disappeared-but thank the coin gods (and gold pricing/gold rarities) brought him back

Longacre in a silent yet scary move decided to boycott the boards till RYK got his gold bug bite back

Lord Marcovan went missing even after the "L" was flashed in the sky, and rumors of woman in coin vests...thought he was bitten by an "imageanaconda..."

And next/now- bear hasnt chimed in for days. Either the somebody stopped giving away the jelly doughnuts in their giveaways or did bear go into hibernation?

may the fonz be with you...always...

Bear, Longacre, and RYK are all still around.

Lord M is quite busy and doesn't have that much time to be posting on these boards.

I'm guessing that a lot of guys are out of the market because of the ecomomy. For many collectors if you are not buying you are not active.

Me, I'm one of those odd ducks who enjoys what I have. I'm out the market right now because I can't afford the coins I need to finish my type set. The only stuff I've bought recently has been 19th century presidential campaign medalets.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Bear was starting too many bizarre threads. Taking a short break is probably better for him and the board.

There are a number of members that still post, perhaps not as often as they once did, Cladking and RWB come to mind, but when they do post they are always well written and in most cases informative.

BTW Bear posted that he was not feeling well so hope he did not catch that PIG bug.

I would like to see our host edit the "view members listings". I see a lot of profiles there still for deceased members and long ago banned members.

Braddick and SAM are still here I see. image Most of the other modern guys vacated some time ago. Wondercoin still posts on occasion. Supercoin quit after 72 the Ike varieties got PCGS blessing. I liked Tad. Typetone, Margulies, Keith Dagan, and Frank all left for different reasons. Russ has a job. Marty and Lucy became scarce. Keets still posts. There are many that split when the open forum died. Much of what remains on the board is business driven. I suppose that's as it should be. This is a commercial site. I'm glad Bill Jones still posts. His posts are consistently full of interesting content. The same can be said for TomB, RWB and a few others. I hate LM is too busy to coin. I always enjoyed his dig posts. Apologies to anyone I missed.

I thought the board was becoming more of a Fishing club.. A few Halibuts leaving slime behind on their posts which has nothing to do with someone's asking.. Opinions are one thing, but knowing everything, well it just can't be.

I still enjoy most everyone here.. I welcome the nice pm's and deals made. I continue to tune in for up to date coins news and happenings daily in the coin hobby..

PCGS has a good thing here.. As to the OP many speak of, I wasn't here then, but I guess the Halibut that still reminds everyone that this is a PCGS board and other TPG's are not viewed here, must of been a hoot on the OP. That would of been fun to read his drool then as I enjoy it today..

Go Ravens.. RYK, Ksteelheader and Mar327, you guys are going down this year.. High points will be the norm for both teams this year..

We will see you in the playoffs once again. George

Sometimes when it changes it doesn't stay the same, contrary to the old observation stating otherwise. My personal .02¢ noted a significant decline back when Mark Feld and Laura Sperber exited the forum.

One thing I have noticed that since the end of the open forum so may years ago. The quality of this forums posts has continually gone downhill. Blatant or thinly guised OT threads, ebay and anything negative seem to get the most action.

8 years ago the coin forum was a treasure trove of information. Now it is kind of like a flea market - there is still a lot good information but you have to sift through a lot of S#$(.

I still read the forum, but don't post much anymore. Most threads seem like old repeat television shows. Same stuff, just different authors.
