Wonder what the 1980 will go for?

The 1880 appears to have a rub on the forehead

as well as some flat areas in the hair.Somewhat

modest luster. Not that thrilled with the 99 either

at that rarefied grade.

I believe both coins have been listed before on TeleTrade and not sold because of not meeting the reserve as I was a bidder on both of them.

I don't know the series that well, but they look overgraded IMHO!

I dont know. I see lots of ticks on both coins. MS68? Dont think so. Not my series but a 68 should be pretty close to perfect and those coins are not by a long shot.

I would only grade those coins as MS-66 at best.

The bid should then be priced at that level.

Each collector always must make their own

evaluation and then act upon that opinion.

Both overgraded.

I wouldn't give either of them more than MS67.

Grading, has always tended to reflect, what the market will bear.

Perhaps we do not agree, but that is the real world we are talking

about. It is, what it is. The really top, world class collections, always

reflect the collectors high standards for the coin and the grade, regardless

what the market place may dictate. This care and attention to details, always

pays off, when the collection comes up for auction or sale.

Not my coins but I'd like to have them. I don't think they're overgraded based on apparent marks as far as luster goes you can't tell from those photos.

These have been on TT for quite a while. The ms68 79-s apparently did sell for $5000 2 months ago. The 79-s and 80-p were auctioned by Heritage a year ago and realized much lower prices (you can view their photos for a photography comparison with TT). I added an ms67 79-p Wide Rim to my set this year and am on pace to tie for the #2 registry set (I have 81-p in ms67 too). I would love to have these ms68's but only if they are true ms68s. I would not buy from TT knowing their awful return privilege. I am collecting the finest coins and not the finest slab numbers.

Maybe it is the pics but I just purchased a 1999 today that looks nicer than that one. And mine was $1.50

I have owned 6 NGC MS66 I won from TT and these are a lot nicer than the MS 66's I won. I sold 4 of them a few years back, a they sold for between $225 and up to around $300. Mine were all 1981's.

TT has about the easiset return policy out there. You don't need a reason. Call them up, find out whose attention to send it to, mark return on the packing slip and put it in the mail.

While returns are relatively easy,

there is a pretty hefty restocking fee.

When you bid on Teletrade, you must grade from pictures.

It is no longer a game, it is a necessity. Nothing is ever as good,

as the human eye holding the actual coin. But, we all do the best

we can, under the circumstances we find ourselves in.

Its tough to evaluate luster from photos but you can certainly see marks and those coins have a lot of them. Doesnt PCGS have standards for the different MS levels? If they do how can these coins be 68?

I don't believe you'd have to look at even 100 1980 mint sets to find a better '80-P. It
shouldn't take many more than a 100 sets to find a better '80-S.

This one might not even be a mint set coin considering the strike deficiencies.

I hate to trash other peoples' coins but am very unimpressed by this one.

Iv'e seen many rolls from banks that were passed into circulation by me with luster and minor nicks that were probably equal or close to those...It's hard to judge by pictures..

From the picture it's a little below what I'd bother to save. I'm assuming the luster is good.

In its defence though I go more with strike quality than being clean and this one is clean enough to be a keeper.

SBA's were considered dogs.The prices on these have been suprisingly spiking.I had lost some interest in them but kept ane eye on them from time to time.I liked them origanally....!!!

I liked them at first when I thought they were going to circulate.

I lost a lot of interest when that failed to materialize. They're fun to look for in nice shape though
since some (like the '81-S) are among the lowest quality of all moderns.
